Hello all,
I have been trying to develop a combined social network and file sharing site through ning. For some reason, I can go directly to the box.net homepage and file uploads are successful. But if I try to upload files using box.net, but through the ning.com system, I get "unspecified error". I have tried multiple browsers, file types and times of day, but nothing works. I would prefer not to have to force people to join two sites, when I am looking for an integrated one.
Has anyone out there heard of a similar problem? Is it an interface problem between ning.com and box.net or some other problem?
Thanks so much ahead of time!
Fred

I am told that we have contacted them about a fix for this Ning App. But, I do not have a time period for when this would be fixed as it involves a third party developer updating this code. However, you might want to check out Box.net's embeddable widget. I haven't used it, but it does have file-sharing functionality that might be an option for you.

Hi Eric, I don't see box.com on ning apps anymore. It still shows on https://www.box.com/services/ning. Can you guide me in the right direction? Thanks.

Box.net is no longer open to new users, so we have removed the app from the directory. You might try the DoxTop app, or check out the GoogleDocs app in the directory. I also know some folks like DropBox (though we don't have any integration set up with them).

Thanks Monica for your reply. We have know integrated box.com with their embedding function which works OK for us. Attached is a screenshot of how it looks in action.
