The display of member birthdays on the main page of our sites is limited to 20 birthdays. So that means that any site over 7300 members is omitting birthdays from the list. People get left out on the very day we could reach them with our greetings and best wishes. Omitting birthdays probably happens for much smaller sites because birthdays are not perfectly distributed throughout the year. So I'm guessing that sites with even 5,000 members have days when birthday members are omitted from the birthday list.
This is a problem. I've received angry letters from members because their birthday did not show up on the list! I also have members that write Happy Birthday greetings to other members. They can't do it with only a partial list. This kills a potentially great way to reach members and promote activity.
The solution is to have a "View All Birthdays" link at the bottom of the list of 20 birthdays. That link would take you to a new page with all the birthdays listed for that day.
So if you have a site (or plan to have a site) with 5,000 or more members, please support this feature request.

Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on November 22, 2012 at 3:15pm I support this feature request! I don't use birthdays currently, simply because it seems un necessary for my home page. If this would tell people on their own profile, that it's their "friends" birthdays, that would be great.
Perhaps it does that, and the main page? If that's the case, I'd likely use it and just hide the main page one.
This will keep it personal, and still available.
However if birthdays are getting missed at ANY point, I'm out. That's only offensive if that's the case.
great points i would also like to see past birthdays that ive missed somehow...
