ning needs a friends only option in the latest activity feeds

ning needs a friends only option in the latest activity feeds. as i see it my network is growing and member are wanting to see only there friends Activity and not the whole networks activity. so ning needs i believe to come up with a everything, and friends only option for are networks activity feeds.

At the moment, if you click on "Top News" in latest activity, you have all the information about the creator of the site, it could be better to have the latest activity of the members you are following...

Thanks for recommending this as optional rather than complete retooling, and I agree it would be great as a profile application enhancement.

I would not use it and here's why. People are too accustomed to the Facebook behavior, and that's really not designed for public networking nor social media distribution. People end up in closed loops where they only see what their friends and family are posting, and thus they don't look as much for new people to meet and don't get as much exposure to new lines of content. All activity does facilitate these different goals better. I no longer feed that on my main page either, because I want to influence behavior of exploring for media, engaging or following productions, looking into individual profile pages, and doing so periodically to get an update on what a member of interest is doing.

It's a good idea though. If a member were to ask me for it, I think would be nice to be able to point them to a Ning integrated "app for that".

thanks Anthony  I know this would not be great for all ning networks, but it could be a option we could choose to have if we need it like I do. just like the top news option. And as fare as facebook I believe ning has a better platform then facebook going. Just lacking this one option. The friends only option. and a complete retooling might be worth it. I mean we want to keep ning on top. And in this crazy web world we that have ning networks need to be at the top of the game.

I agree that a Friends Only option in the Latest Activity feed is something that would be great to have on many of our networks.  Perhaps we'll see this feature in the upcoming Ning upgrades coming soon.

If we don't see this from Ning soon, and NCs continue to ask for this and have the budget to invest in this feature, I'm sure one or more of the developers in here could fill the need; I know I could.  I know exactly how I would do this.
