I know i am not the only one seeing this but ning pro is too expensive , we can not make that money to pay for . There is no profit us ning platform , Ning should partner with google so that any video upload in to our network our google adsense would automatically added so we can make some money . As far as i can see ning is not helping us creators make money they are only thinking about them selves . i guarantee you that every one using ning platform is not making any money to pay for there network , they are only doing it because they love the idea of having a website .

If you rely on Google ads then your site had better be getting a TON of traffic.
this is my website click here people ain't paying for anything these days especially online
Permalink Reply by kopper on October 18, 2011 at 1:52pm Well, for one thing, you should turn off the music (OrrinFM?). If there's one thing I hate when I visit a website, it's someone else's music blasting from my speakers. If I want to hear something, I'll turn it on myself, thankyouverymuch. Music is a very personal thing, don't force yours on anyone, esp. if your site isn't built around one genre of music. I even went to your "iriewaitersschool" page and not only is the music playing there, too, but there's a video that's playing at the same time. Turn off the autoplay on your media and you'll probably attract more members.
You need to reach a critical mass with regard to members. I don't know how many members you have (frankly, I couldn't wait to close the window with your network open), but you need to be tirelessly promoting it on other social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, etc. It ain't easy, but the more people you get to join your site, the faster you'll be able to make your money back. Good luck.
Permalink Reply by kopper on October 18, 2011 at 1:44pm We have a fundraiser twice a year on my Pro network (similar to those done by public radio stations), and we raise more than enough money through those to cover Ning's hosting fees. The first one is in January and the second one in July. We start it on Monday and by Wednesday we're done. In addition to that, I have Google Adsense ads and also sell banner ads (I use OpenX to run them on the site). These help pay for my additional Web hosting account through DreamHost (for the domain hosting). Just some things you might want to consider on your network.

To make it worse the bird has a bunch of JS errors which causes some peoples networks to break.

Ning only charges $60/month. My mailing list vendor (iContact) charges $400/month for the email blasts that we send about once a week (our blasts are well monetized, so I don't care for the expense). My payment gateway system charges $500/month in credit card processing fees: I sell advertising, mostly via credit card purchases. Note that my Ning.com network generates about 20% of our income, but it is our most visible and respected Internet property.
Ironically, we generate $0/month from AdSense (we do have an AdSense Google search box on our Ning network). Indeed, we'd rather pay for this service if we could eliminate the paid ads (that Google displays on search result pages), as they are irrelevant most of the time.

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on October 18, 2011 at 3:12pm The music is not a problem for ,me, and I suspect, it's not a problem for your targeted members. However, i do agree wholeheartedly with everything else kopper has said here. Running a social network is a lot of work and responsibility, more so f you're trying to make money, especially in these economically unstable times. You have to be creative in your thinking when it comes to making money with your network. I'm working on putting together a free concert where I'll be giving away flyers promoting my site, maybe you can try a similar promotional event for yours.
