Hi NCs,

I usually get the result "we couldn't find anything that maches...." or getting something not in my target search when I use search function in my Ning network. I am so sorry Ning, but it's really a bad feature. I hope Ning will improve this feature in the future. Search is very important function in network. Anyone have the same issue?

The search could use a refresh. I will advocate for some improvements to search, although it isn't currently on our Product Roadmap. Thanks, Trieu.

It's a very old bug, perhaps 4 years now !

I hate to come across as negative when I love my NIng network, but so many essential things are never "on our Product Roadmap".  Being able to search a site and get RELIABLE results would seem like a no-brainer for a company as large as Ning.

I hear you. I hear a lot of that's "a no brainer" type of comments, and I will do my best to relay those to the brains behind the scenes.

LOL Thanks Eric. I'm sure you could write a book on the repetitive things you hear from us here.

Thanks, Eric. We are waiting for "a new release" from Ning.

I just had a new member post a comment that she would never return to my network because "There is no real search engine here." (her words).   And the sad thing is that she's absolutely right.  Ning's search function is horrible and there is no way they (or I ) can defend it in its present state. Keyword or phrase searches either get you "no results", even though you KNOW the content is there, or it gives you pages and pages of disorganized and/or in depth content that is not needed.

Searching for content and getting reliable and succinct results is a basic necessity for any website.

Diane, sorry ready this, but this is the main reason why it's was the first thing I've put out of my network 3 years ago when I started to pay for it, even a CGI script do better than that!

I just use it NING search feature internally to get the NING coded URLs needed to use to do URL redirections!

Use Google site search instead, it's amazing and getting just better in the new version, in my other network (also on NING) in the other side I've got a nice comment from Travelchannel.com telling their readers how powerfull is my Copacabana.com site search powered by Google.

My 2 cents: drop it ASAP!
