Hi Everyone,

As many of you know, we made a decision yesterday to focus 100% of the company on enhancing the features and services we offer to paying Ning Creators. The tens of thousands of you who already use our paid
service represent over 75% of our traffic, and we’ve heard repeatedly
from you ways that we can deliver a killer service to help make your
Ning Network more effective. Some examples of things we are working on
that you’ve asked for include new APIs, a new mobile experience and new
advertising and revenue opportunities.

As part of this change, we’ll be phasing out our free service.  On May 4, 2010, we will share with you all of the details of our new offering, including features and price points, through a series of blog
posts, emails, and conference calls. We recognize that there are many
active Ning Networks for teachers, small non-profits, and individuals
and it's our goal to have a set of product and pricing options that will
make sense for all of them. For Ning Creators using our free service who
choose to move to another service, we will offer a migration path and
time to make that change. We will still continue to allow free trials
and test networks on the Ning Platform.

We look forward to talking to you further on May 4th.

@ L Meyer:

Totally agree with you here. I'm appalled at how information/ updates is "leaked" via a NING employee.

Hello? Can we say confidentiality agreement?
hello can we also say mismanagement and lack of planning and failure to get the pulse of the client base Before the letter was ever written out and leaked ?
I think you may misunderstand. Our intention was to be transparent and share information with Creators so they know as much as possible, rather than relying on Internet rumors.
Internet IS where I first heard it.
That's great, Roze. Glad you heard it. The point I'm trying to make is that we wanted to provide the *actual message* from our CEO so you wouldn't rely on, for example, conspiratorial rumors on Internet forums.
Fair enough.
Eric, you might as well just close this discussion now. It's already getting filled up with pointless arguments and misunderstandings from people who are posting replies before they even finish reading the post above.
Le sigh.
Sorry, but internet is where I heard it first too Eric
As a new creator, I appreciate transparency. I will not get all twisted and excited until I hear what the bottom costs will be. Of which I personally will pay as I will not let my members down. Nope, not going to happen..So until May 4th, it's back to the writers circle for me!!!
Well, that's the Ning and the New World Order finding any way to rip us off as usual.

They are taking control of the Internet, we may as well go back to the old crystal radio sets to communicate, but I think they are making it illegal to use anything such thing that is not digital which they can control and switch off at any time.

Ning has always regarded us as 'employees' without 'pay' to promote their service.

I doubt we will see anything in respect of an apology from them for our hard work, or the offer of a permanent discount on their future Premium Services for the current Network Operators (all of us) that have built Ning.

It took us Network Network Operators to become involved through hard work on our individual sites, without which Ning would have failed, to get Ning the to the stage it is today.

Thanks Ning for 'mugging' thousands of people!
Amen to that!
