Hi Everyone,

As many of you know, we made a decision yesterday to focus 100% of the company on enhancing the features and services we offer to paying Ning Creators. The tens of thousands of you who already use our paid
service represent over 75% of our traffic, and we’ve heard repeatedly
from you ways that we can deliver a killer service to help make your
Ning Network more effective. Some examples of things we are working on
that you’ve asked for include new APIs, a new mobile experience and new
advertising and revenue opportunities.

As part of this change, we’ll be phasing out our free service.  On May 4, 2010, we will share with you all of the details of our new offering, including features and price points, through a series of blog
posts, emails, and conference calls. We recognize that there are many
active Ning Networks for teachers, small non-profits, and individuals
and it's our goal to have a set of product and pricing options that will
make sense for all of them. For Ning Creators using our free service who
choose to move to another service, we will offer a migration path and
time to make that change. We will still continue to allow free trials
and test networks on the Ning Platform.

We look forward to talking to you further on May 4th.

Ning fools everybody. I create a non-lucrative network where all my folks that been together since childhood and now are spreed around the world, with that network we keep together. But now I realize that Ning used us maybe to get everyone's e-mail, and now they can make business with that....
Now, how can I get back all those pictures and videos that all members puts in the network ?
Ramon: As Jason said: We'll provide you with all the details about how to migrate off of Ning if that is what you wish.
Sorry, but I didn't read that. But, how can I migrate ? Other question, how much will be the cost for the service ? There are a lot of Replies and I can not afford to read each one
Ramon-
The long answer short is this: We won't have answers until May 4th. Everyone has the same basic questions, and I'm confident they will be addressed in the announcement on the fourth.

Until then our job is to stay calm and think about what our goals and options are.

Scott, without knowing the costs and options it's not possible to stay calm and think about goals and options....

Dear Ning:

I certainly hope that the folks who are moved from FREE to having to pay for service are not going to be required to run advertisements without being compensated for it or having their "rent" offset by the amount of advertising revenue NING is going to be continuing to rake in ... tell me we're not going to be taken advantage of in that way, please, if we elect to pay for your service. If I hook up a domain to my Ning Network, I don't want a single stitch of pushed content on "my" Ning web site.

Please advise.

Thanks.
Jane
l like that, l will gladly have ads and links to Ning. l just want my Ning. And l even decorated the create a ning network. l am not ashame to have it on my site. lol

We are going to miss ning if the social network goes competely. But if it is reasonable, we would not mind to pay.
I don't mind the Ning links and adds either
Agreed 100%. If I'm paying, it is mine to do as I wish.
I would agree with LMeyer...I know I will not be paying
Please keep me apprised. I've heard nothing via email. You should do at least that. I feel there should be some alternatives for people who have put a lot of work into developing a Ning network and who - honestly - can't afford a monthly fee. Perhaps something very low (like $5.00 a month?) might go down a bit better?

I run a Ning networking site for small and micro-business. We're not a rich bunch. Perhaps the network creators who do pay for premium services (as I do) could be involved in discussions regarding Ning's revenue-raising strategies?
