Interesting...been scrambling to change many tips to remove any conflicting code calling in extra jQuery lib files, which was done due to Ning's older version, until recently. The biggest issue reported was the Member Profile Photo couldn't be changed. I just tried to change my profile photo on Creators, and I cannot. The cropping tool isn't working.
Just wanted to report this and point out, it's obviously not just code conflicts but a Ning bug - - or both. Don't get me wrong, the extra jQuery calls need to be removed, regardless.
Happy Holidays!

Permalink Reply by Tim Spagnola on December 12, 2011 at 5:03pm I got 3 reports of this today from members. All of them having a hard time uploading and/or changing profile picture.
Permalink Reply by Shannon Klipstein on December 13, 2011 at 11:14am I was just on my way here to complain about the same thing! Cant wait to see it fixed... thanks a bunch for looking into this!

Permalink Reply by Scott Bishop on December 15, 2011 at 2:49pm I'm having the same complaints from my members telling me they can't upload a profile pic.
I'm not sure how long this has been going on but I was wondering why I'm having so many members signing up without uploading their profile pic.
Now this post I believe confirms my frustration.

Here's how i fixed it:
Do you have that BS Avairy photo editing extension enabled? Get rid of it
Do you have Photo required on sign up? Un-require it. Save. Then re-require it.
Done
Permalink Reply by Scott Bishop on December 15, 2011 at 5:27pm That's harsh. I like that Avairy photo editing but I think I'm the only one using it.
I guess I'll have to take off my site. Good find, hope Ning fixes this soon.

We've had a few members who couldn't upload or change profile photos, too, and solved it by deactivating Aviary.
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on December 16, 2011 at 2:17pm I appreciate all the reports about Aviary. What is weird about this is that I have done some more testing, and this is what I've seen:
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get consistent results. But, I think we're getting closer.
I would encourage you to try toggling on and off Aviary to see if that helps your network.
Can anyone tell me how to shut off/remove the profile photo editing on networks? I am refering to the option to crop your profile photo when joining.
Over the last few weeks I have had several visitors say they could not get past this when trying to join the site.
I do not have the Avairy extension enabled on my network and would like to remove the profile photo cropping feature.
Thanks for anyone that can tell me how to disable this!
