Hello everyone, is there a way to create a group and not be a member of it ? Example: I have a modeling group but I am not one and need the group but not be a part of it. Thanks much.

Hmm. I'm not 100% sure, but you could make someone an admin, then leave the group. Hopefully someone can give you a definitive answer.

Nope, I tried that and that won't work.

I have tried all options and nothing seems to work. It seems like the creator of the group will be a member for ever.

You could make a admin account, (empty, just for editing) and then you won't be in that group, but that admin account will.

That's what I do. I find it really helpful to have a faceless, nameless Admin persona as well as mine. Though for many things I'm happy to be identified as the Creator or admin, for many, it's best to be more discrete. I do use it for groups that I have no interest or want to stay out of personally. I tend to create an icon for the Admin that's related to the network's logo.

And it's an "okay" workaround until Ning gets around to giving us the ability to change the Group creator.

Thanks, Patrick and Debby, I will test it out now, I really hate being in every group.

I hear you, man. You're welcome, and best of luck to you.

An extremely large number of us want Ning to remove the 'Group Creator' wording and instead use 'Group Host', or 'Group Hosted By', with site Admins and NC's having the ability to change who hosts the groups. There are numerous discussions about this

(please see all of these for more details: 'We Need The Ability To Change The Creator Of A Group':

'Idea? Question Again': http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/idea-question-again

'Group Creator Dead Horse': http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/group-creator-dead-horse

and also some of the replies to the discussion 'New: Change group URL's' http://creators.ning.com/forum/topics/new-change-group-urls )

As per my last reply to the discussion about changing group URL's, we are STILL awaiting a reply from any Ning personnel about this. The attitude from Ning appears to be "let's ignore anyone who talks about this and hopefully they will stop asking". To say that I am frustrated, annoyed and a little peeved is an understatement (yes, us Brit's really do loose the 'stiff upper lip' attitude when pushed! lol ;-) )

Note to Ning:

This is clearly something that we absolutely NEED!! Stop ignoring us and address this issue as a MATTER OF URGENCY!! Otherwise I will have to change my attitude from 'peeved' to 'extremely annoyed', and you really don't want that now!!

Ok, breathing deeply and making a large cup of tea now....

Yes Patrick, Big Up - And Charlie, thanks for the info, I will check them out now
