It's now even easier for Network Creators to manage and monitor their Ning Networks on the go. We're excited to announce that a Ning iPhone app for Network Creators is now available in the Apple iTunes Store.

This app makes it possible for Network Creators with iPhones, iPads or iPod Touches to access their Plus and Pro Ning Networks. Once you've installed the app and signed in, you'll be able to:

  • Monitor your Ning Network's daily statistics
  • View, approve, delete or add Blog posts
  • View, approve, delete or add Photos
  • View your members' Profiles
  • Approve, reject or suspend members
  • Add comments to a Blog post or a profile
  • Send a Broadcast Message
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest Ning news

Best of all, this app is free in the iTunes store. You can download it here today. If you have feedback about the app, please let us know on the Creators Ning Network. We hope to continue adding features and functionality to the app, and expand to other mobile platforms as well (such as Android).

The Ning iPhone app is part of our Ning Everywhere effort, which allows Network Creators to customize, integrate and make their social Web sites accessible on any device or service. While this new iPhone app is for Network Creators to manage their Ning Networks, thanks to the new Ning API, Ning Pro networks can bring a better mobile experience to their members. Check out our Ning Everywhere page for more information about the possibilities opened by the API.

Hey Manny!

Great to hear from you. As I mentioned up above, we hope to continue adding features and functionality to the app, and expand to other mobile platforms as well (such as Android). We know a lot of NCs are using something aside from an iPhone, so stay tuned!

SWEET!! Not that I don't like the iPhone: I just chose the Droid over it courtesy of AT&T sucking! :)

Oops! Would have helped if I had read. My apologies, Eric. :)

Very cool!  I just downloaded it!

Here's another question: I just ran the app by our Admins and they noticed that it only works for the NC.

How hard would it be to make it available to Admins as well? Specially for large networks, it's almost a given that the network is not monitored/managed by the NC alone (at least I speak for myself).

Thoughts?

Hey Manny,

I was just going to ask that question - making this great App available to site ADMINS as well - it would really, really HELP.

Please - Ning - think about allowing ADMINS to use this Great App as well.

Ron

Hey Manny (and others)!

Don't worry, we definitely anticipated the need for admins to access the iPhone app. It's quite a bit more complicated, both techically and in terms of the User Interface needed. In the interest of getting the app to you as soon as possible, though, we decided to limit the first version to Network Creators only. Now that the first version has been released, one of the first features we're going to work to add is support for admins. Stay tuned on that!

YOU ROCK, guys!

This would be fabulous - it's critical for me since I manage a number of networks that I didn't create.

2nd that!

Hey Marshall!

We totally hear you — the /m interface is in need of serious work. We've made that a priority, and hope to tackle it soon. We've heard for years that NCs want a better way to manage their networks from their mobile device, and that's why we prioritized that over improvements to the /m interface initially.

/Evan

I will pass along your suggestion to screw the apps and focus on the Internet. Thanks.
