When was the limit changed from 10 to 5? My first network has 8 and I have setup many other duplicates where I need 8. Can we work together to have this reverted back asap?

I understand the need to minimize the boxes to increase speed, but I need that flexibility on my homepage and can not function without it. Please help!

It should be left to us to decide what speed we want. There are already several limitations and now reduction of text boxes!
I'm in desperate need of a few more boxes and would really like to have this acted on.
Hi John,

We have no plans to add this in the immediate future, we'll be sure to post here with any updates!

Thanks,
Laura
To me this feels like a drugdealer, offering you drugs for free, until you get hooked and once you're hooked, they want you to start paying...

Sorry but this is my opinion.

I will never start using a hosted service anymore... we always will have to deal with their 'updates' and 'good will for us'. CRAP!
LAura i really don't get this.

First of all, the textboxes are limited, because it would 'increase the speed of our networks' and now you guys are considering to offer it as a premium service in the future!

isn't this a bit double? So, then what about the 'network-speed' if you will offer this as a premium service? Isn;t the speed of the networks important just because you will offer extra textboxes as a payed service?

NING is becoming more and more of an unfriendly place to create your network because all the things we used to get for free, will now become a payed service...

If you guys would have told this as a reason to limit our textboxes, then i would have understood... but not in this sneaky way!
What I see from the conversation is this -

Ning removed unlimited text boxes to increase networks speed across the board. I believe Ning allowed us to keep any extra text boxes if they were present on our network already. I could be wrong about this. Then they changed the number of text boxes available to new NC's to 5.

I think Laura saw the above comments. Which led to her comment

There aren't any current plans to raise the number of text boxes. We'll let the team working on premium features know there are some Creators willing to pay for this feature however.

I would assume that it work along the lines of the Premium Help. Who knows ? This is all my observation. Maybe Ning will be releasing Premium Features ..? I don't think that it was Ning being sneaky ..I honestly feel Ning has become more friendly over the past year. :)
Could be Robert, but still i think it's riiculous to 'maybe-offer' extra textboxs as a premium, while first taking i away from us and later MAYBE offer it as a premium serice, when it slowed down our networks in the first place.

This i find RIDICULOUS!

I have ALWAYS been PRO-NING, alays liked the team of people (an still do) but some things i really can't rime with myself... to me this all sounds a bit schemy or shady!

I mean, WHY first take away the unlimited textboxes because it would slow down our networks, and later.... (MIGHT) consider offering it as a premium service for paying members.

NING ALLOWED us to keep the extra textboxes on our networks if they were there already

NOT REALLY! When we go to the admin and try to shift the boxes 'that are already there' we can't save the new settings, since we 'seem to have too many textboxes'.

What this comes down-to, i can't change the layout of my indexpage anymore, because when i shift my blocks and save, this is impossible... this FORCES us to delete the tboxes we have on the index!

Again the NING team is keeping it's mouth shut when someone criticises them, so far NO answer from team..

Okay Zohra,

let's assume there's just one Ning server and just two sites, yours and mine. If your start page takes 1 hour to load because it's stuffed up to extremes, there'll be right this 1 hour of slowed down response times for MY community. In a situation like that it makes sense to purchase another server to get some load balancing. And that's why Ning wants YOU to pay. And not me (with fairly 10 lines of light weight text in just one box). Got it?

Well, i may be blonde but am not stupid. I am fully aware of that... then why doesn't NING answer about this an not YOU? IF they wanted to give a good reason for this, i suppose THEY would give some more indepth reply about this!

I dont have a million textboxes on my index and i also haven't installed al features aswel, but if i wánt to and nééd to, i want to have the possibillity to dó so!
Well, I will edit my feedback to our product team and let them know some people aren't willing to pay for more text boxes. :)

Indeed, I assume most thing we provide as premium services or features, most people would prefer to not pay for. For something like text boxes, which do affect performance, the idea is that Ning Networks using the most (and adding more load to the system) pay a premium for it. This is similar to the bandwidth and storage fee.

We appreciate the honest and constructive discussions here, and as you've seen, look to them as points of reference for product decisions.

Thanks,
Laura
Wel you dint see me telling that i am not willing to pay for ANYTHING, it just sounded so souble to m, that first the textoes are limited because that would slowdown the network and decrease performance and then i read that you us consider (possibly) offering extra textboxes as a premium service!
Wel sayed dear ;)
