Glad you noticed! This wasn't one that we trumpeted since it probably doesn't affect too many people, but I'm glad it's smarter. Thanks to everyone who suggested it and asked us to change it.

previously, if you tapped a menu item it fleetingly brought up the subtabs but quickly went to the top level tab linked page. Now the subtabs stay put and the main menu item is inserted to the top of the sub tab menu.
It's good.

yes but it also now requires you to tap twice if you don't have any sub-tabs

That hasn't been my experience. For example, when I visit Creators on my iPad and click on Product Roadmap, it goes right through to the page with one click.
