previously, if you tapped a menu item it fleetingly brought up the subtabs but quickly went to the top level tab linked page. Now the subtabs stay put and the main menu item is inserted to the top of the sub tab menu.

yes but it also now requires you to tap twice if you don't have any sub-tabs
