I received an email from Ning Support this morning - - short notice to say the least, stating the following:

Hi,
We noticed that you are using a 3rd party script or extension on your Ning Network, such as Sitesuites, Livewired or Jisbar. When we launch our three new Ning plans tomorrow, July 20, these
scripts may be impacted.  If you encounter any issues, please contact the 3rd party developer who created the scripts.

Thanks,
John McDonald
VP Advocacy
Ning, Inc.

I have two Networks that run the original LiveWired Apps (Classifieds, Jukebox), which are awesome applications. And, I hired LiveWired (APPS.IO) to install a banner program just for JenSocial (formerly the Ning Directory).

All 3 are completely broken.

I am working with APPS.IO to see if there is a fix.

Naturally, this is disappointing to say the least, especially knowing that Ning knew this would be the case. Is there hope for recovery of these applications? I guess my big question is: Will these 3rd party Developers have their hands tied and no way to correct the issues? Or, and hopefully - - is it possible?

The Classifieds and Banner Exchange apps are very important to the site.

Thanks in advance,
Jen

me too...
Seems they've left it to the third party developers to sort out. What stinks is the short notice. Many (if not all of them) have day jobs, who's to say how long it will take these developers to resolve our issues.
I have Jisbar on my network and its working as it should , but I have not taken up my plan yet, does this mean when I do Jisbar will stop working ?
Hi Jen- I have the sitesuites joomla app and the jisbar on my site as was happy to see all was working after the update. I am not totally up to date on what each plan offers because I always knew i would be needing the Pro plan so i didnt investigate much.

After I got the same email as you late last nite I got to thinking and if I remember correctly the cheapest plan may not allow you to use the Google Analytic box...where the Pro plan does. Remember the code has to be installed there for the Joomla and Jisbar I thought last night if this was the case then I should be fine

I am just tossing this out there as something to investigate if it applies to you

Thanks
Curtis
Thanks Curtis. I will go with the Pro plan for sure.
Best,
Jen
My Scripts4Ning and SiteSuites are gone. My Jisbar is a mess.
my S4N are back ... Sitesuites has been missing since I entered Beta
Hey! My S4N controls are back!!!!
That's great news. I do hope Ning gives APPS.IO the ability to fix the Classifieds, Jukebox, and my special Banner Exchange program. And the same for SiteSuites and Jisbar apps. I believe if the Developers have the ability, they will be able to fix these apps.
Yeah, this is crazy. What's more is the lack of foresight in this matter. I shot Vince off an email informing him of this, and he and Jana have since notified SiteSuites customers. This delays my plans to invite new members and to complete my own facelift.
Yep, my livewired classifieds are broken too.

If NING had any sense it would have tested these before the upgrade, known they would be issues, and handled them accordingly.

I'm really a bit fed up at the moment that such a key feature such as my livewired classifieds is broken.

I'm not impressed.
Yeah, this is a bad thing for JenSocial. I have a customized app (Banner Exchange), Classifieds, a WYSIWYG Editor under Simplescript, and Jukebox - - all dead. I was able to fix the WYSIWYG with an iframe, but now the tons of links across the Internet to the Editor won't work.

I just received notice from APPS.IO. They are working with Ning to come up with a solution, hopefully.

Best,
Jen
