I don't want to sound negative. But I have to say that our music player is the worst I've seen around the internet. I am ashamed to show it to my friends and I try to evade the topic with my 4000 members who regularly poke fun at me because of the music player. The refer to it as the soviet music player. Which is quite unfair to the soviets. Today's russians make very good websites but that's not the topic here.
It's about the Ning Music Player. Cannot even delete a track posted by a member. One member posted some garbage music and I don't know how to delete it. And then finally, I realize I have to go to the member's profil page to delete the track. But only if the member has the music player on his profile page. If said member removed it from his or her profile page, I'm fucked. I cannot delete the track. And I cannot do it from the home page because that little pencil is not showing on the player posted on the home page. So when my members poke fun about the Ning music player calling it the worst on the internet, I can ignore them but for how long will I have to ignore them ?

So my question here is: When do Ning intend to upgrade the Music Player ?

Permalink Reply by Martin Sutton on July 1, 2012 at 9:31am Eric I'm getting a massive problem with sound cloud links not playing when 'uploaded' - just dead. Is there something I should know?
Permalink Reply by Design Faerie on July 3, 2012 at 7:40am we have mp3 tracks that just go ZZZIIIPPPP literally go ZZZZZZZZZ straight to the end and on to the next track (in the player on a profile page) --however if EDIT PLAYLIST is opened...they WILL play completely in there

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on July 3, 2012 at 3:59pm Oh yeah, you were part of that campaign too, Damion!
I think it sucks, since not only would it be a boon for us, but it would benefit Ning as well. They could take a huge chunk out of Myspace, Facebook (BandPage), and ReverbNation by revamping the music players. The way the players are now, they serve as nothing more than toys that members abuse to violate copyright laws (and you would think Ning would be concerned with that). I run a music site, and the music player is useless to my artists, which wouldn't be so bad if they were able to embed SoundCloud widgets.

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on July 3, 2012 at 3:52pm I have been the biggest proponent of getting rid of that horrendous music player. Took a lot of heat for voicing my opinion on the matter too.
Permalink Reply by George H. Compton IV on July 3, 2012 at 5:46pm Just use http://www.mixpod.com .. you can customize it as a music player or video player and add all the music you want from youtube..

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on July 3, 2012 at 6:50pm Mixpod is totally unprofessional looking, no matter how you customize it. It's very Myspace-ish, and web 2.0-ish (almost as bad as the Ning music player). Not to mention, it wouldn't serve my artists at all.
My network (and those of us who run music networks) require something where we can get stats as to who has listened to their tracks, who has downloaded them, who has rated, and what their rating of a particular track is. The Ning music player has a rating system, but it doesn't seem to do anything. The least Ning could do is change the look. It can not possibly be that hard to do.
Permalink Reply by George H. Compton IV on July 3, 2012 at 7:05pm just search on the Internet I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for there is Hundreds of other players out there
