PAID ACCESS?? What a let down!
We have just activated Paid Access to try it out for a month... WOW! What a let down it is!
Only THREE possibilities.. Paid access to certain groups, paid access to certain pages, paid access to the network! THAT'S IT!
What about paid access to adding events... the completely obvious one that NING has missed! But why? Paid Access for creating groups is another blatantly obvious choice that NING missed. Why, Why, Why?
I, for one, am VERY, VERY, disappointed with this VERY limited add-in which NING are charging creators an extra $19.95 a month for.
What a let down!

I had assumed that paid access would give different levels of membership; i.e. FREE and PAID.
Here is a summary of how I envisaged Paid Access to work on our Network.
What do other NCs think about this?

Permalink Reply by Alexander on July 30, 2011 at 12:15pm Thanks.. Surely this would be far better than Ning's current concept of Paid Access.
Permalink Reply by Chris Comish on September 16, 2011 at 3:46pm I like the Paid Access to create groups and access premium groups and the paid access to create events and access premium events idea.

Permalink Reply by Alexander on November 4, 2011 at 7:08am Hello Chris,
Through using Content approval controls.
Because these have to be approved, I have made them available only to Premium Members. I have set up a Premium Membership page where members can upgrade to Premium Membership by paying via a PayPal account button. I then approve the related access.
Permalink Reply by Chris Comish on November 4, 2011 at 7:16am How do you track this? How do you distinguish between premium and regular members? Do you use paid access on the premium membership page? Or is this a page with your own paypal button on it? Once they are approved for premium membership is there a way to allow content access for only certain members? Do you use roles in member management? I am confused on how you do this.
Permalink Reply by Chris Comish on November 4, 2011 at 7:18am Do you still approve premium members' content manually? Is this just checking the PayPal records or is this paid access?
Permalink Reply by Chris Comish on November 4, 2011 at 7:20am If a free member submits something for approval, do you message them and tell them to first acquire membership to be approved?
