Pinterest is becoming a very popular social media site premised on pinning images to boards that link back to a source website. There is much interaction via "likes", "comments", and "repinning" others images.
If you go the the Pinterest site, they have instructions to add a "Pin It" button to your site so you can pin images to one of your boards for others to view, share, and link back to your site.
Has anyone added the "Pin It" button, what challenges have you had, and how did you find success in it's implementation?
I believe many Ning users would be glad to know...
I have not added the pinit button, but I am already getting traffic to my Ning network from it.
since its invitation ONLY.. ...
Just like with G+, I can get you in, all I need is an email addy:)
Pinterest is very neat, and I would definitely recommend trying it out. It isn't exactly invitation only. Just enter your email address and they'll send you an invite without too much delay, but you do have to sign up with your Facebook or Twitter account.
AddThis has direct support for Pinterest.
I've requested membership. We'll see what's going on. Some of my members (artists) are flipping over it, so I definitely need to check it out.
I would love to have a PIN button, I have a lot of traffic coming from Pinterest.
Which does not really answer your question. I tried to add the Pin button but what I would really like is to be able to get the Pin button in the share option with the photo's/gallery.
I have membership now. They give you an option to add their button to your site. This from Pinterest:
Adding a “Pin It” button to your product pages or blog posts will allow your customers and readers to pin your products onto Pinterest. Use the form below to customize your own button:
The Pin It button is made to look like and function similarly to both Facebook's and Twitter's buttons. Placing them together will increase the social awareness of your products.
While a description is optional, it is recommended; specifying it lowers the friction for your users to pin your products.
You can have multiple Pin It buttons on each page using the Advanced code below. For example, on a catalog. Just make sure that each one is next to and associated with the correct product, visually.
They provide the code for a favicon and a logo to place on your site.
Click the button of your choosing below to select the HTML code to embed. Then, copy and paste the code onto your site where you'd like it to appear.
The follow buttons act similarly to any linked image on your site. They can be used inline with your content, or as part of a sidebar
I'm still trying to figure out how to best use this. It would be nice if it were sitting right there beside the FB and Like buttons!
I did know this, but I would be able to have it with all of the other 'share/like' buttons that we have.
I can't get their codes to work! I'm hoping someone else will figure it out and stop by here. Every time I try inserting them into discussions, the HTML only renders a link instead of the cute little Pin It button. UGH...*frustrated*
I've just signed up for an invite, I will let you know if I find a way to get it to work on my network.
