Hi everyone,
I've just started a social network called Writers Unite and I was wondering what you thought about it? Anything I could do to improve?
Any comments or feedback will be very much appreciated.
Thanks!

You sure you didn't post this just to show off?
Permalink Reply by Stephanie Lennox on May 13, 2012 at 6:46am LOL! No, no showing off here. Thanks very much Patrick! :D

Best of luck to you. =)

My first impression is very nice!
I was just a little disappointed that I could not look in, and I generally recommend making things public, but if this were my niche I could see signing up for the access.
The book sharing module with the scroll feature could be better. Perhaps some kind of slider or carousel that puts those covers in view rather than requiring a navigation action.
Tough to critique. You can see a lot of care went into it, and I think looks to convey a culture of community writers will appreciate. There are certainly a lot of social projects pertaining to writers so you will have your work cut out for you. Overall, I like it. You get an A+ in my book :)
Best,
Anthony

Thanks, Anthony!

Permalink Reply by Writer Chick {Diane} on May 13, 2012 at 4:28pm I tried to join your network but have never received the email verification necessary to complete the process. This doesn't surprise me, as another Ning network I'm a member of is having similar difficulties.
If it ever arrives, I will join. I also run a writing network for fanfiction, poetry and original works.
Permalink Reply by Pastor Donald C. Garner Jr. on May 13, 2012 at 4:47pm Inbox me the link to your site Diane, I'll join your site today also. Permalink Reply by Stephanie Lennox on May 13, 2012 at 8:38pm Sorry about that, Diane, that sucks. It might be in your junk email folder...? If not, try this:

I'd love to join yours if you could inbox it to me as well. Thanks! :)

Permalink Reply by Writer Chick {Diane} on May 14, 2012 at 3:24am Nope, it never showed up in my Spam box either. I watch that one as closely as my inbox. I tried to join again, but I won't be surprised if I don't get it. There's something going on with email verification. One of our affiliates had to submit a ticket over it.
Permalink Reply by Stephanie Lennox on May 14, 2012 at 9:04am Ok, I think I'll submit a ticket too. Thanks for your support all the same, and I hope this is something that can be sorted as quick as possible.
Permalink Reply by Pastor Donald C. Garner Jr. on May 13, 2012 at 4:44pm Hey Stephanie, I saw a post you posted a few weeks back, asking for advice on your site. I'm a NC and fellow writer/author as well. I'm going to join your site later today. I run with my wife Cheree www.artztre.com, I just have a question you can Inbox me the answer if you'd like....How did you get SOOOO many Members SO QUICKLY! lol WOW! That's Amazing, and you just started your site. Impressive. We've been trying to figure out the exact same thing. we've also, been upgrading the sites [age design, features, and adding relevant content for members to help make them spend MORE time on Artztre.com. If you can, share with us what you did to make your site grow so rapidly with authors/members, and get them to start being active within the community. If anyone can help, please post a response. Thank You! Blessings....Pastor G
Permalink Reply by Stephanie Lennox on May 13, 2012 at 8:46pm Hi Pastor, thanks so much! I did a lot of legwork before actually launching on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc - talking to authors to see what they would like in a site and gathering interest.
I have a Facebook group for my site which is a big help, and I use it to meet people and let them know about the site, too, and I think being genuinely interested in people really helps. Trust is a big factor, give people a reason to join your site and make sure they know you're not trying to scam them.
I hope that helps...! Sorry I couldn't help more, but if you want to know anything else feel free to ask.
Steph
P.S. Thanks for joining, and your site looks great too! :)
