Hi there,
I started a ning social network at zoovsocial.ning.com.
I really wanted to use my own domain (zoov.co) so I went to my register and put in the following settings:
| @ | A | 208.82.16.68 | |||
| www | CNAME | zoovsocial.ning.com. |
Now when I visit my site, I get this:
If you created this network and you'd like to take your network online, please sign in.
Want to create your own social network? Get started with Ning today.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sign in link doesn't work to take my network online even though it wasn't offline???
I really need to start my site tonight, anyone any ideas :(:(?
Thanks!

Permalink Reply by Christopher Curran on November 17, 2012 at 10:56am Too many redirects.
Tried in 5 different browsers, on my ipad, android tablet, iphone and xbox and it happens on every single one. So annoying. My network is completely unreachable.

when I click sign in.
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on November 17, 2012 at 11:05am Okay, it sounds like maybe you have your domain pointing to your Ning site and your Ning redirecting to your domain so you're locked out of this infinite loop. Would you like me to reset this for you so you can start over?
Permalink Reply by Christopher Curran on November 17, 2012 at 11:09am Ok yeah but will it not just happen again, am I doing something wrong?
I put the above CNAME and A records into my host then I came back to my zoovsocial.ning.com site and put zoov.co in the alternative domain field and made sure it was checked before hitting save and that's when the problem occurred.
If you reset it, I don't want to do the same thing for it not to work again :(.

Did you by any chance create two sites and cancel one? I see zoovsocial.ning.com and zoovww.ning.com. The latter is cancelled. You may want to make sure the settings on your registrar's side are pointing to the former.
This one works: http://zoovsocial.ning.com/
Permalink Reply by Mat on November 17, 2012 at 11:13am Could be the dot (.) you added after your network name. try without adding that.
Permalink Reply by Christopher Curran on November 17, 2012 at 11:29am Eric, they are pointing to the former network, the zoovww was cancelled weeks ago as this same issue happened to me and I got fed up and cancelled my subscription. Today I decided that I wanted to give ning another shot so I created a brand new network, set up the domain settings to point to the new network from scratch and it just didn't work.
That's weird, did you change something with zoovsocial.ning.com as it was definitely not working until I go your response? I am going to try and add zoov.co as the alternative domain and see what happens.
Mat - I've tried this however it makes no difference.
Permalink Reply by Christopher Curran on November 17, 2012 at 11:30am Eric, I just went to domain mapping, entered in Zoov.co as the alternate domain, saved the page and it said changes saved successfully however there was no "zoov.co" showing in the alternate domain, I clicked home and I am back to the Network Offline message.
