POLL: Put "Follow me" on profile pages?

TAKE PART IN THE POLL BELOW:

- On YouTube you can "Subscribe" to channels. 

- On twitter you can "Follow" people. 

It's a very popular feature because it gives talented people a chance to create a "following" / fan group who follows their work and this opens up the possibility for them to make a business with advertisers. All this is very good news for YOUR network if you want to attract the productive members.

- The question is: is it possible to "follow" a specific member on a Ning network? (so each time that member uploads a photo, a movie, posts in blog or forum etc. you will get a notification)

we already have a very similar function here on ning. if you comment on something, you will automatically receive updates until you decide not to. there is also a "follow" link at the bottom of each post, which changes to "stop following" in the event you no longer wish to continue your participation.

I wish more people would participate in this little demonstration ... I think it will help remind Ning that they only have the features that people can find.

I agree with this comment.

I think a "follow" or "subscribe" button under a member profile picutre woulr be create. Or even something next to their content, like "follow" linked next to videos so that if I wanted to subscribe to their videos then I could just click that. New content could be emailed to me or better still be in a subscription inbox related to my profile.

Yes you are right. I'm trying to find out if people knows it exists, for the benefit of the Network Creator community. Trying to "raise the awareness" of this COOL feature, which I myself was not even aware we had. Unfortunately no one can find it (not even me) and that is such a shame when you guys already slaved to give us this awsome feature.

The idea is to put a link on the profile page for this functionality, if you don't think this is a new product idea then you of cause move it.

I categorize discussions based on the original discussion — asking NCs if they know about a feature that exists, in this case. That suggestion in the replies, though, is duly noted.

Yes you are right - the headline suggest more of a "poll" rather than a "suggestion" to put the link on the profile page. To me it does not matter where it is categorized, it's mostly for your convenience but I'll change the headline actually to better reflect the purpose.
