Does anyone know why this would happen and what she/I should do?

Issue: it's telling me that my email address doesn't exsist.
I had one of these today also, the first thing to check would be your members list to see if that person is actually a member. It can happen that they tried to sign up but didn't complete the email verification which would result in this or they completed your sign up form but then clicked cancel at the last box and not continue if you have moderating on. If they are a member in your list they may be trying to sign in with either a different email address or not typing theirs in correctly. They would then not be able to sign in. To get this message the user would have clicked the report an issue link at the bottom of the page.

One other thing, if you want to test it to make sure you are not having any issues with your sign up form you can test it by creating a bogus account yourself to sign up. You just need to create an email in google or something like that so you do not have any conflicts with your own account.
I'm going to remove the email address you've shared here because this is a public place. The person who sent this message to you probably doesn't want their email address shared online where it can be picked up by spambots.
The reason for this message is that she doesn't have an account with the email address she is using. I would say there is a 99% chance she signed up with a different email address but doesn't remember which one.
