Last week our team was able to squeeze in a quick feature that some of you had requested. You’re now able to write a Privacy Policy for your network.
You’ll find this new functionality on the Terms of Service page under Settings in your network’s dashboard. Scroll down and you’ll see the new Privacy Policy section. Entering and saving any text here will automatically create a new page at /main/authorization/privacyPolicy, which will have the same look and feel as the existing Terms of Service page. In addition, Privacy Policy links will be added in two places
The footer of your network
The profile question page when a new member is signing up
If you decide that you no longer need to have a Privacy Policy, simply remove all of the text from the Privacy Policy box. The page and links to the page will be removed.
While this might not be the most exciting feature release of all-time, it should be very helpful for some of you. Please note that any custom privacy policy must not conflict with or supersede our own Ning Privacy Policy (http://about.ning.com/privacy.php).

thank you some of the ad networks we belong to have been requesting this but since any custom privacy policy must not conflict with or supersede Nings. Why not just provide creators with a canned version like you have done with Terms of Service.

Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on August 16, 2012 at 12:48pm I don't think we've changed anything unless you turn this option on.

Permalink Reply by Writer Chick {Diane} on August 16, 2012 at 2:06pm No, I've not turned this on. *sigh* Thanks Eric. The good thing is nobody ever reads the TOS, so I can live with it. LOL

Permalink Reply by Writer Chick {Diane} on August 16, 2012 at 12:27pm Also, how do you access the Privacy Policy if you've hidden the standard Ning footer? I need the link to it so I can add it to my custom footer.
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on August 16, 2012 at 12:54pm Don't think I can provide any help with a customization that removes the standard footer. You'll find the link leads here: http://networkname.ning.com/main/authorization/privacyPolicy
People may often visit this link when they are in the middle of signing up. You'll see that if you sign up as a new member. Note how that link is structured.

The link is automatically re-directed to the Terms Of Service page on our network.
I type:
or
http://atheistuniverse.ning.com/main/authorization/privacyPolicy
And I get to:
http://atheistuniverse.net/main/authorization/termsOfService?
Is that ticket matter?
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on August 18, 2012 at 11:52am My URL may be incorrect. Add text and hit save and go through the sign-up flow and click on privacy policy. You will see the policy in the flow. It works as expected for me.
