(Sorry if this issue has already been dealt with elsewhere). Also, I am using both Ning and Google in Finnish so the commands are my translations, might actually be something else in English...
I have a problem getting Google verification for my site with my own domain. In a test phase I was using the Ning domain hontsy.ning.com and it was really easy to get Google Web tools to verify my ownership of the site.
I have now purchased the right to use my own domain, www.hontsy.fi. I use free nameservers from Zoneedit, there is a CNAME (alias) pointing to hontsy.ning.com and it is working just fine. However, I cannot get Google to verify that hontsy.fi is my site.
I have done all the steps as I did with hontsy.ning.com. Go to Google web tools to verify, choose HTML file, copy the name of that file (google804b04ef30acb9b3.html) to the text box & save. This seems to work OK, also when I do Google's step 3, check that download worked (= go to www.hontsy.fi/google804b04ef30acb9b3.html) this works and the file is there. But when I click verify, Google says this can't be done because the content of the verification file is false. There is a "click here to see the content", this is what it shows:
"<HTML><HEAD>
<META NAME="description" CONTENT="hontsy.fi">
<META NAME="keywords" CONTENT="">
</HEAD>
<FRAMESET border=0 rows="100%,*" frameborder="no" marginleft=0
margintop=0 marginright=0 marginbottom=0>
<frame src="http://hontsy.ning.com/google804b04ef30acb9b3.html"
scrolling=auto frameborder="no" border=0 noresize>
<frame topmargin="0" marginwidth=0 scrolling=no marginheight=0
frameborder="no" border=0 noresize>
</FRAMESET>
</HTML>"
What's the problem? Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
