Just a quick tip for those Creators who wish to use a professional and stable ad serving program to start promoting your own in-house rotation ads. I think this is a great addition to help with monetizing your site, alongside of the Ning Ads, which are coming out soon.

I use openx for my ad serving, I have a high traffic site but the rotation service is free. I've tested the performance of openx for about 6 months and they are both stable and reliable for ad serving.

The free version has more than enough options to more than adequately run a complete in-house ad serving program and it's as easy as copy/paste of code into your text boxes to get it up and running with ads. I sell ads that are anywhere from 445x75 all the way to 955x95 in size. A quick note for the code I use on my site, I use the Iframe choice for the code selection as it works the best in the text boxes (from my experience).

I've seen many posts on Ning relating to ad serving programs so I thought I would add this information as well to hopefully be of help to someone else who wishes to further monetize their sites through selling ad space. You can also easily run Google Adsense as well within the openx rotation.

Here's the link to the Openx page, the on-ramp version is free and like I said, more than adequate for ad rotation needs.

Also, here's the link to their how to section for the on-ramp service, it supplies all the needed information for setting up your ads and implementing them on your site.

I hope this is helpful to some of you who are wishing to sell in-house ads on their sites.

Hi Gerry, Sorry for my late response. I do use onRamp, I handle all of my site including openx, it looks much more daunting than it really is; it's actually really simple to set up and implement. If you need some help setting it up for your site just let me know, I've done this for other sites.

What is iframe?

I had set up an advertiser/campaign/banner for a test run, all exactly how the tutorials told me. The only problem is pasting the invocation code onto the ning site. The banner doesn't show up .

If there are any video tutorials that help with putting OpenX on Ning I will gladly watch them.

Or if anybody is willing to email back and forth I am up for that too. Just please use layman terms. I am not familiar with computer lingo.

Thank you!

use the iframes invocation code oin the zones invocationcode  you have multiple versions tp choose from iframes alows a refresh rate

and if you use the open x "hosted" theres a long delway b4 ads start to show if u use yoir own server installing openx sourse theres no delaty

and make sure the banners campains and zones are all linked properly

Im sorry but that really didnt explain anything.

What is iframe?

ok youve seen sidtes in the past that used frames (not common aynymore) frames open a diferent page in each frame like a frame for navigation and a frame for content and  a frame for header etc

so when you click a link in 1 frame only the content of another changes

well iframes are the next generation its like embeding 1 page in another

i could put an iframe in this post with my site in it wich would axt like a site within a frame within a page

like an example youtube now has iframes or embed code to asd a video to  page

embed code embeds the video on the page while iframes opens the video in a page within a frame
