profile pages 3rd column on 2 column layout

when you use the 2 column layout the profile pages have a 3rd very skinny column that is just ugly and pointless why cant that be removed and the content shifted to the main  wide column?

as it is now the default is to have discusions in that thin column wich makes it very unreadable a its only a couple words per line.

it would be best to do away with that column entirely and move the contents.

so that the profile pages match the main pages with 2 columns

ofcourse then theres the issue if what to do with the stuff in that column

id say move the profile pic and inbox area over to just above or below the signin box

admin controls below and everything else to the wide column (which then can be moved)

that extra thin column is useless  and sloppy and just annoying

By the way, you know you can change the category.

i really hope they do take a look at this and do something about it that tiny middle ciolumn is just useless and ugly

and profiles will look way better whith just 2 columns

i know the way the columns are set up now it would be pretty compluicated to try to come up with a css workaround  without messing it up

This is why I have been requesting the Layout Change only be on the Home Page.  Leave the other pages the regular 3 column..

i want it all 2 collumn for 1 then you can use the large rectangle ads in the 1 column which u cant in 3 column

and the pages and everything just look better with 2 column

I know what you mean as I originally felt like this when designing my ning site. However, I opted for a clean 3 column Facebook-inspired layout so as to create an interface users were already familiar with (Facebook). What I did was widen the first column including increase the size of the profile picture so it looks more balanced. It's amazing how a small tweak does improve things...although I guess it depends on your general site layout and how busy the columns are. For me in an overall 3 column layout I keep all the main things in the first column with the 3rd column being for the sign in box, custom navigation panel + sponsored adverts only. It seems to blend well with the profile layout...
