Real Time Alerts/Updates?
Hi Everyone! I am enjoying Ning in many was besides this one:
Why can't members be alerted in real time of updates their friends are doing, like Facebook? Why do members need to check their emails for updates (sort of spammy, and is not very functional)? Has anyone come up with a solution to this, or is it a bug?
For a pay service, I believe this feature is mandatory for a social network, and may have to jump out of Ning if I cannot find a way to implement this. Since the Latest Activity module updates in real time, could this technology not be applied to a simple updates tab/dropdown for each member?
Any input on how I can make this functional on my site is greatly appreciated.
