Permalink Reply by lorianne on November 20, 2012 at 11:46am My members were having a similar issue with the "like" button on blog posts. Each time they clicked it took them to the top of the page and did not register their 'like', in addition some were unable to add comments to blogs for the same reason.
It seemed to start shortly after the routine maintenance and since i only had 2 or 3 reporting it, and they were all mac users - I did not do a ticket. I did however find a way to 'fix' it.... and good thing too , since more users on mac & PC are reporting this as of today.
I have asked them to log out of the site (so many of them stay logged in for long periods of inactivity... weird.)
so - I tell them to log out and then clear their cache and delete cookies. They log back in ...viola! the button now works and continues to work from then on, no need to repeatedly clear/delete.
I am not tech savvy enough to know why this works, but it is has worked numerous times for different users across several different browsers.
maybe this info will help nail down the cause.
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on November 20, 2012 at 11:48am It actually started before maintenance, and the best thing I can recommend is holding down the shift key while reloading the page. Sometimes an error like this can be related to a problem with the cached Javascript in your browser. We will continue to try and get to the bottom of it.
Permalink Reply by Deb W. on November 20, 2012 at 12:58pm I am having many problems with one of my networks today... No matter which profile I log in under (I have several), here's where the hang-ups are:
I use a mac - tried to log off the network & then reset Safari & that didn't help. I was able to log into a PC and saw that I didn't have the issues I've listed above.
I have two other networks & neither of them has any problems right now on PC or on Mac...
Any suggestions? help...
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on November 20, 2012 at 1:52pm I have noticed this... it is definitely a javascript/other code not fully loading... BUT, I noticed that when I use a cookie function, such as the "last visit to site" TIP, and the "splash page 1st visit" TIP, both made EVERYTHING wonky. Once I deleted my cookies and came back, voila, no issues.
My network does go all screwey from time to time, like my style sheet just got hit by a tornado. When I reload the page, it will remain, if I have multiple tabs open with my network loaded, it will affect those pages too! (when I reload them) But, if I quit my browser (firefox) and open it right back up, problem solved. Hopefully someday you'll find this solution NING! :)
Permalink Reply by Rev. O.M. Bastet on November 20, 2012 at 10:25pm Having similar problems. For a bunch of days, clicking on the link in a notification to go to a particular discussion reply or blog comment results in the page loading properly showing that particular item, but then the page flips up to the top and stays there.
I ran Microsoft Security Essentials last night, and as far as I can tell, the few pages I tried today loaded properly to the particular item, and it stayed displayed.
And there were a few days when as Network Creator AND as Network Admin, I could not see the Options button in PUBLIC gtroups, only in PRIVATE groups. I think clearing my (Chrome) browser cache solved that, I'm not holding my breath it will stay fixed.\
BTW I absolutely HATE having Creators default text be italics. It is SO hard to read, I am reading a lot less here.
Perhaps related is that the comments function from within the LA display does not work. Hasn't worked for many months.

Permalink Reply by TJ @ jQueryHelp on November 21, 2012 at 1:04am I know why this is happening to lots of us, but not the solution.
Ning handles many click events with the dojo javascript library. Since javascript is handling the clicks of links and some buttons which are actually links Styled to Look like buttons, Ning set the href attribute to #, which should never be acted on by the browser because the javascript should be doing whatever it is supposed to do. However, when browsers see # as the link URL, they go to the Top of the Current Page. They would only See the # in the event of the dojo javascript not working right Or not being loaded in time.
So that's what is My Opinion of what is happening.
All we can do on our end, is not start pressing buttons until we see the Loading messages stop in the lower left corner of our browser, the status bar. Or do a hard refresh which for me using FireFox on a PC is ctrl-F5, which as Eric notes, may help.
Maybe we all have too much stuff happening on our sites. I know mine is loaded up with code!
NCs could evaluate all the bells and whistles and possibly pare back.
Coders and stylers could take extra care to write as efficiently as possible. I pledge to do that even more in the future!
Thanks to Ning for such a great platform and thanks to the wonderful NCs here at Creators!
A special thanks to Eric Suesz for being possibly the best forum moderator I have ever encountered. Its not an easy job and is often thankless, so here's a thank you from me!
I am totally off topic. Sorry! (my excuse, its almost Thanksgiving) Best wishes!

I've got a lot of coding too. I'm not a code pro so I'm sure there's things I could do better. I only experience a problem like this every now and then, and I do have a lot going on with my browser.. I have 20 active pages open anytime I'm on the internet. Lol. Ah the joys of running a social network, eh guys? Lol.
