Requiring a profile photo

I am wondering if I am missing something on requiring members to upload a profile photo when they join.  I have it marked as required in the profile questions at sign up.. and I thought there was another place to require it, but I cannot find it..  

Either way, I am finding that my members are no longer required to add a profile photo as I see new members using the default photo..

Am I missing another control somewhere that I cant find?  Thanks

You know, Dana and Scott, I have seen this occasionally, too. Right here on Creators. I've done some investigating in the past, but I've never been able to come to any definitive conclusions, and I haven't been able to reproduce it myself in testing. (Some of us in the office tried it when we saw your post this afternoon, but we can't reproduce it by trying to avoid posting a pic. So, it appears to be working as expected when we try to break it.)

One thing to note is that a member could simply save the image that is on the sign-up page and use that (the default image is displayed on the sign-up page). So, that is always a possibility. I've actually had people take a screen shot of white space and use that before, I think. Some people can be offended when asked to include an image. 

To be honest, I haven't approached anyone yet who has an avatar like this because I don't want to annoy them just as they've signed up, but maybe I will do that to see if they uploaded a photo.

Hi all!

Same problem here. Sometimes, some members are not required to set a photo. This is the third time this has happened in eighteen months. I've never changed the setup since I set a mandatory photo for membership. I asked  this members if they had uploaded the default photo : they've all said that nothing had been asked about a photo during the registration...

Today and yesterday I have 2 new members like that...

It seems we are experiencing the same problem. I would love to require my members to put a photo up upon joining. I know when I joined the creators group, I had to put a photo, is there a way to enable this for my members?  I apologize if someone answered this, I didn't find it... :-)

Hey, Qadirah. Yes, you can require a photo, as explained in this Help Center article. What some people have reported is that in rare instances some people seem to be getting through this requirement. We haven't been able to reproduce such an error yet. In any event, I would definitely recommend requiring a photo.
