Recently, as some of you have noticed (here and here), the search functionality on Ning Networks has been slow to update, and content is not being indexed in a timely fashion. Ideally, new members and content would be searchable after a few minutes, but that’s not currently the case. Because of a bug on our end, indexes are not being updated as frequently as they should. We’re aware of this issue and are working on a solution right now. We appreciate the feedback on this issue you’ve provided here on Creators and through tickets in the Help Center. As a result of your input, we’ve been able to isolate and resolve the underlying problem.

Over the next few days, we'll be making some changes and you'll begin to notice that searching for members and content will more accurately reflect the status of your Ning Network. This process will take several days, so you may not notice anything different right away.

Thank you again for your feedback and patience as the search functionality improves across all Ning Networks.

I run a Ning site that stores articles on all aspects of liver disease. The search capabilities of Ning for this type of site are woefully inadequate.
There is no boolean or wild card searching and once documents have been found with the search terms, one has to rely on the browser to find the term within the document.

Any solutions for this??

Craig
It would be good to understand the algorythm behind how the search result is presented - doesn't seem to be in date order; just a random mix of blogs, comments photos etc.

Be great for a user to be able to filter results by content type (blog, photos etc) . Be great for site creators to be able to specify the order of search result - for example, for us (http://www.beatyourpb.com) its most important to surface blogs first as were a blog heavy site.

Cheers
