I would welcome any comments or suggestions for my network which I created to members of Second Life.

Thanks much.

Looks nice overall, but my first reaction is that your light gray and green font color is hard on the eyes.  That's eye strain waiting to happen, especially if your members spend a fair amount of time on your site reading.  Comfort is as important as features and ease of use.

What is "second friends"?  I'm not sure what that means...

Thank you Diane. The decision to use those colors was based on the existing familiarity that Second Life members already have on the Second Life website.

Second Friends is a social network for Second Life members. Therefore, keeping familiarity, is an important aspect.

Thanks.

I still don't know what Second friends means because I also don't know what "Second Life" means.  LOL

That's my point.  For VISITORS, (like me), who may not be familiar with other sites related to this one, they would have no clue what the site was about.  There's no clearly defined mission statement.  If you're only concerned with attaining members who are already familiar with your site, then you have no worries.  If you want completely NEW members, then people need to know what they're joining.

Second Life is a virtual world, kind of like a game, but it is very in depth. people can actually make money on it with businesses and such. They use what is called "Linden Dollars" as money, that can be converted into real money. it's a very neat concept.

LOL  I thought it was about reincarnation or the afterlife.  Just goes to show he needs a mission statement.

lol....it's pretty neat, you can do most anything on it. start a virtual business, say, a coffee shoppe, and charge linden dollars. if you get a good working niche that people on the game like, you can actually make some pretty good money.

Thanks Speed. I do make a few dollars from my continual live performances as Mankind Tracer in Second Life. As I mentioned above, I'll be celebrating my fifth straight year, Nov 9 in fact :-) I also sell my CD's in game and have had the fortune of reaching a really wonderful global audience that my 20+ years touring in real life didn't afford me.

Second Life does have a lot to offer. I know of one woman who designs and created virtual shoes for avatars and has earned six figures already in just a few years. There are many friends I have in SL who make good money. Some in fashion, others in virtual real estate. I also own a PR and Marketing firm inside SL and that also brings in some cash. There's plenty of more examples. Thanks for the input :-)

that's fantastic, Seth! I wish I had the time/money to build something up over there. it is an intriguing little world.

You SHOULD man... I am very well connected. If you have something of good quality to offer, I can help with "inworld" marketing etc.

Only if I were targeting those outside SL like yourself. There would be no reason for you to join if you are not part of Second Life. It wouldn't make sense for you to spend the time since everything on Second Friends is directed at SL.. Thanks :-)

Most of the visitors are actually coming FROM Second Life so there's no real need for mission statement or marketing as it were outside of that specific niche. Many of the 8+ million registered Second Life members follow my music career in SL so I have a pretty good reach when it comes to spreading the word. As I have been performing live in Second Life for 5 years and in that time have gained solid notoriety as the "top performer" as they call me, not to sound immodest of course, I'm hoping of course to be able to translate that into more members on Second Friends.
