Hey Creators, so I am wanting to create and release a mobile app, and I'd like to use ShoutEm. I like it and all, yet it is pretty expensive. I'm curious if any of you have created a mobile app using this company, and how it is working out for you. Also, I'd like to check out your app and see how cool it is. :) Thanks everyone!

It's expensive/year, so I want to make sure it's perfect. At this point I'm attempting to link with the API from Ning, but it doesn't work. I have contacted ShoutEm customer service, but perhaps someone who comes across this post will have an answer or at least some experience in the matter.

Thanks for your interest in ShoutEm!
Regarding our pricing, we do offer a 17% discount on services for yearly packages, and do consider our services very affordable compared to the cost of traditional custom app development. On top of that, we take care of the publishing process for you and provide regular feature and app updates free of charge with your subscription.
We have an integration guide here you can utilize. Make sure to leave any "http://" off the subdomain field, so it appears as "yournetwork.ning.com". As a note, the Ning Pro plan is required to exchange API data.
If you haven't yet, check out the ThisIs50 app, a Ning network from hip-hop artist 50 Cent which utilizes our platform. You'll find links to download in our blog post here.
Regards,
Josh / ShoutEm

it's a little confusing, but I got it.
Thank you for your reply here! The price will be paid yearly, I just need to save up the money for it. lol. I'm going to check out the integration guide now, and I do have a few more questions... I submitted a ticket regarding API and Ning, ShoutEm is not completing the connection for API, I have a pro Ning network, and have tried every combination of my domain names and created 3 API keys, none are connecting. I can not sync my Ning Network with Shout Em.

Please private message me the case number you were given when you submitted your ticket, and the email address and app name on your account. I'd be happy to take a look.
Thanks!

One only question:
Is possible add the Ning chat to Shotem app?
Permalink Reply by Josh Wolff on October 7, 2012 at 10:44am Hi there!
At this time, no. We're unable to offer live-chat opportunities through Ning in our apps.
We encourage Ning network users to continue their requests to expand the API for more mobile features.
Best,
Josh / ShoutEm
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on October 7, 2012 at 1:52pm Do you know if Ning and ShoutEm plan upgrades, such as including the live chat? This is a pretty important feature for members, and I would love to have this ability. Expanded API, is there a post here on Creators, or that you know of, that explains how to add a chat to the app from ShoutEm via Ning?

>>Do you know if Ning and ShoutEm plan upgrades, such as including the live chat?
This feature isn't offered on our end, rather Ning's. If you didn't see menued's post, here's what their API offers:
http://developer.ning.com/docs/ningapi/1.0/overview/introduction.ht...
We rely on this API to communicate with your network, so whatever isn't offered on their end we're simply unable to offer as part of the integration.
Hope this clarifies!
Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on October 8, 2012 at 6:01am So, as I have read via that link, and as I have tried via the test app, and failed twice.. People who potentially buy my app can not sign up for my network with their devices, they have to go to a computer to sign up first?
This will likely lead to bad reviews on the app store, no? Maybe the app "sign up" button could link to mobile internet browser sign up? I don't know, but this sucks on ning's end, that's for sure. Sigh.
Permalink Reply by Josh Wolff on October 11, 2012 at 1:27pm They can sign up via the app after the integration is completed. See the attached screenshot.
Hope this clarifies!

Permalink Reply by Damien Hannah on October 7, 2012 at 10:21pm My API problem is solved....
In the first box, it asks for Ning Domain and gives an example text... "yourdomain.ning.com"
However, it only requires "yourdomain" and nothing more...
The text box is misleading, and very misinformative, perhaps a fix is in order? Maybe this wasn't noticed by ShoutEm, so I figured I'd point out why I was having issues, the instructions are incorrect.
Thank you for your replies Josh!
