I always wanted more options for the subtabs in DS (at least border options). I finally got around to playing around with mine and figured I'd share.
This is what my subtabs looked like before (boring):
Here's some tweaks to give your subtabs some borders, background images and sliding animation (text file). Add it to your Advanced / Custom CSS.
End result:
Use what you want out of it. I suggest you use a small pic & optimize it to keep the size down for response times.
Have fun!
Update:
I threw together some background images & optimized them. Here's a new example of mine.
Save the image you want and upload it to your own site. They are the same colors as the Floating Quick Navigation If you are using that too.

Permalink Reply by Michael Thompson on March 25, 2012 at 3:32pm I tried entering the code several ways and now have both your new sliding subtab code and the Quick add txt and icons displaying. However, the problem that I am still having is the following:
When i go to the homepage the Quick add icons display correctly along with the Top News/Everything option at the top of the activity feed. Then when I scroll up to the navigation bar I see that the new sliding subtabs are displaying and looking good. When I scroll back down to the activity bar after hovering over the new sliding subtabs, the quick add icons.txt and TopNews/Everything options are now gone along with the little add twitter checkbox.
If I refresh the page they reappear and they stay displayed until I hover the mouse over the new sliding subtabs. If I go to another page and come back, everything displays again until I hover over the sliding subtabs. Anybody have any ideas?

Permalink Reply by Michael Thompson on March 25, 2012 at 3:39pm I am using Safari. I have not tried any other browsers yet but can.
Here is the link: http://www.standingstonenews.com
The site is new and not quite ready for a full launch, but getting close. I have added lots of code from the past two months or so from all of the tips I have seen here and on several other sites.
Permalink Reply by Michael Thompson on March 25, 2012 at 3:44pm I did just remove the quick add icons, but the txt remains. I don't think people use the icons so much, but I wanted to keep the bubble border outline and the hover grey color at the top of the activity feed where you add a status update.

Permalink Reply by Fire-Tech on March 24, 2012 at 7:22pm I think the icons might the same code I used a while ago. I think you are right Soaringeagle. CSS shouldn't mess it up. My guess would be the recent changes to the activity feed.
Michael, I'd hit up Alex to see if his icons got effected by the recent changes.

Permalink Reply by soaringeagle on March 24, 2012 at 7:24pm yea i took the icons off awhile back
\id be willing to take a peek and debug i found and fixed a few bugs in activity feed and i would definately suspect thats more the cause
