Someone is using my domain name, how can I stop it?

From time to time I usually check on how my network is doing on major search engines. I usually check all the links back to my network. I think many of us NCs do that. Last night during one of such routine checks I found two strange links with my domain name but when I clicked on them, they directed me to porn websites.

My url still works fine and I can access my website. I couldn't have noticed this problem without actually clicking on each of those links.

I don't know how the guys did this and I don't know how such links can be removed. It's so bad to have one's domain listed on search engines pointing to the wrong sites. I run a network for students and teachers and to have it listed that way is just ridiculous.

How do they manage to attach my url to another url?

I appreciate any help please.

Hi RB,

Thank you for the recommendation. These links don't show up on google, they are showing up on a Chinese search engine called Baidu. We reported the case yesterday. We're still waiting for a response.

It's tricky, but they're not technically "using" your domain.

Look at the dot coms before the slash.  That's their website.  What comes after that slash could be anything.  For example, their "Contact Us" page would be www.guilinok.com/contact-us.html

Basically, they're using your domain name as a keyword to boost their search engine ranking.  For example, they could have also used www.guilinok.com/50-shades-of-gray.html to try and weasel their way onto the search results when someone is looking for the "50 Shades of Gray" book.  

Why did they use your domain name?  Who knows.  Maybe they sniffed your browser history and thought you would click on it if it looked familiar (which you did).  That link they made (especially the one with a question mark) are created dynamically via a program, so it's possible they have thousands of these crap links floating around.

Thanks Wilson for your analysis. I understand what you mean very well. It's the first thing I thought when I found the strange link. And then the second thought was, why they would want to use my domain given that my SEO is not really that good as to attract such. I thought if they were looking for a site to do that with they would have millions to choose from. Why they chose mine is the question, anyway they did. I have reported it. It's taking long but they say the problem will be solved.
