I rarely complain about having to decline spammer accounts on Ning Networks. It is what it is. But wow, this is crazy. I can barely keep up with this new influx of spammer accounts applying for Ning Networks. I receive at least 2 every hour from several Networks. They all have something about Hairstyle Promos. Anyone else?
Ning, anything we can do about this?
Thanks,
Jen

Thanks, James. Good service to know about.
Thanks for sharing,

Permalink Reply by Lisa A Cash Hanson on November 8, 2012 at 11:06pm You can find the IP address and range with the link to Honeypot. - Don't know what this means? I'm not a programmer really so it's like French to me
Would I add cloudflare to the site or how does that work exactly?
Hi Lisa,
Have you checked out the Cloudflare site? They do an excellent job explaining what to do and how to do it depending on who is hosting your site i.e. your own domain versus through Ning.
Honeypot is a service by Google-(sample page #3 in post above). If you click on second image to enlarge it you will see the "Honeypot" link at middle left. It has more info than what shows in the snip #3. (scrollable) You have to have an account with Cloudflare of course to see/use these pages/dashboards for your site.

I'm on my own server.

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on November 8, 2012 at 9:48pm They're not getting in through my mobile, I disabled it because they were getting in that way. These spammers are getting through the desktop site.

Permalink Reply by Lisa A Cash Hanson on November 8, 2012 at 11:03pm Ok I'm confused are they getting in because we have the mobile option activated? Because I think that's when I started noticing it but not sure if there is a connection
Permalink Reply by Dr Husky (Emalejandro) on November 9, 2012 at 12:30am I too am with Cloudflare for a couple of weeks but for other reasons: I have had many problems with the chat (delays, falls, etc.) and site slowness problems. Cloudflare has helped me. It is a great tool and now prove the security options that was nearly off. Thanks James.
@ James Hawkings: What level of security you set Cloudflare?
