Spammers Attacking Ning Sites all Titled: for Hairstyles...

I rarely complain about having to decline spammer accounts on Ning Networks. It is what it is. But wow, this is crazy. I can barely keep up with this new influx of spammer accounts applying for Ning Networks. I receive at least 2 every hour from several Networks. They all have something about Hairstyle Promos. Anyone else?

Ning, anything we can do about this?

RULE: any email address with more than 3 periods gets put on approval list

that would solve it.

I think Ning should contact google on this one... this is an obvious abuse of their system, and they could stop it if they had the information and motivation to.

I set my sign up requirements to ask for both he Captcha and the sign up quiz. I still got 2 spammers the next day. BUT, I also submitted a help ticket that same day, and although I got a comment about how my sign-up quiz wasn't difficult enough, our spam stopped a week ago.

I'm not sure which did the trick - increasing our sign up security or submitting a ticket - but in any event, there has been no more spam on our network.

I took the liberty of speaking for all of you in my help ticket. I directed Ning to this thread. I see a lot of you are still getting spammed. Good luck!

We got several requests for membership at vloggerheads. But one glance at their email addresses gave me the idea they might be just what you say they are, spammers. I mean, come on, hairstyle?

Yes, having the same spam issues. All kinds of hair styles and now all types of Christmas themes. They seem to be coming by way of the middle east region such as Syria and Saudia Arabia.
