I am interested in knowing if at all there wil be any changes in latest activity feature.

I would like to have feature where, members (friends) have the ability to like and comment on the status or activity or any kind of posting made by an user.
THis feature is available in FB, Orkut, and also could be found at groups.com which is a new freemiuim network.

Knowing the popularity of your content creates a interest amongst user to check out that particular post. which in return gives us an idea to what members are actually interested in rather than depending on comments and ratings.

I hope my suggestions will be taken into consideration.

None the less the NING offerings are really great and affordable.

Hey there!

I'm not totally sure what feature you're referring to. Are you adding your request to being able to comment on status updates, or something else?

I agree on this one. Ning should have focused 100% on this feature long time ago because this is the no.1 feature responsible to lose activity and member’s interest. If Ning would had focused on members engagement earlier, so member actually having FUN being on our network (even a niche network must be in some form fun or interesting) Ning probably would had survived with the free version because adsense income would had been around 10 times the amount they are making now if not more and like already stated many NC's would not leave, because…

It is a big difference if you lose i.e. 5000 inactive members, where only few login every other day for few short minutes, other few every 2 weeks and most if lucky once every 2-3 months....
Or i.e. 200-500 small network where half of them are on almost every single day for at least 20 minutes a day interacting and participating even if with clicking a few “I like”.

If it would be me who has to take the priority decision, I would definitely say top priority:

Status updates, I like and anything what will make the user experience a FUN adventure... on the end of the day people are looking for entertainment... than the iPhone app... it makes not much sense having an iPhone app. if people who have an iPhone are not using it on our network, lol
And surely at last...the membership payment plan...why on earth should people want to pay, if they not even visit our network for free,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lol

But it is not my decision, so only can pray for this to come A.S.A.P. too.
oh but wait a min.we have 3 new features of losing members,i mean fighting spam next week, lol
lol...so without the spammers now we will have less activity...soon the only one interessted to be on our networks are spammers, the rest is having fun on fb...lol
Hi !

Dear Evan,

please, may You give Your definite answer about this important user generated product development ?

Millions of persons choosed Facebook for this and You know well Facebook is "just" this.

Regarding a real, complete Facebook integration, requested here, here, here, here, may You inform us IF/WHEN it will be available ?

This information is very urgent, because NOW we are asked from Ning to choose a Ning service to buy, but it's not possible to choose what to buy, because it's not clear what You are selling and going to sell in the future, if/when/how You'll sell us this complete Facebook integration.

For example: it will be in Ning mini ? Plus ? Pro ?

At the same time, this is the most important information we need to decide or not, all this and this doesn't really help to choose what to buy from You/Ning.

Just help us to buy from Ning !

How/when Facebook for Ning sites ?

A big thank you in advance for Your answer.
Hey 9b!

I'm a bit confused by your reply. Are you asking when you'll be able to sign in via Facebook and/or Twitter — or are you asking about the question this forum discussion is about: The ability to comment on or "like" status updates/activity items.

If you're asking about commenting on/liking activity feed and status updates, I addressed that earlier in this thread, pointing out that it requires some serious architectural changes, but that we're still committed to making it happen. Because of the depth of the changes involved, I don't have a time estimate to provide.

I'd like to keep this discussion focused on the original question, so if you're asking about sign up via Facebook/Twitter, please start a new thread or contribute to an existing one. Thanks!

I'm asking about a full, complete Facebook integration, so when Ning networks members will be able to:

1) sign in via Facebook (what about this ? It will be available ? If yes, when ? Will it be in Ning mini ? Plus ? Pro ?)

2) comment on and "like" status updates/activity items

I read from You this second one requires some serious architectural changes, you are committed to making it happen, You don't have a time estimate to provide, even if You are asking us what we want to buy from You:

so ... really, how can we choose now what to buy if You are not able to provide us any time estimate ?

Will You provide time estimate in July ? If not July, when ?
Will it be in Ning mini ? Plus ? Pro ?

I understand You are focusing on keeping discussions focused on the original questions, but I didn't and don't start a new thread, because, as You can see clicking my above links, there already are existing ones.

I having nothing else to give to contribute, I'm just asking You.

Thanks!
Hi, 9b! This discussion is focused on one thing, but you seem to want it to be about many somewhat related things, which I suppose could cause the discussion to break down and wander into different directions. If you change your mind and decide that you do have something else to contribute, please start a new discussion. Or, feel free to participate in one of the existing ones that are focused on the different issues you bring up.
Hi Eric,

as written to Evan, if You click the second link I posted an hour ago, You can see I already started a new discussion asking You when Ning networks members will be able to sign in via Facebook.

I didn't received there any answers from You there, that's why I wrote here too.
Your answer is still missing.

Regarding comment on and "like" status updates/activity items, I'm still waiting Your answer:
- will You provide time estimate in July ? If not July, when ?
- will it be in Ning mini ? Plus ? Pro ?

Please, try to understand comment on and "like" status updates/activity items are strictly connected to sign in with Facebook, as a part of THE SAME ISSUE, COMPLETE FACEBOOK INTEGRATION.
I'll do my best to answer you in your own discussion, 9b.
I think we should give more emphasis at one thing at one time...Commenting on status is definitely important and thats wat my members have been asking me for...

sadly, I am no engg, what they are expecting me to be...lols :)

I guess many here are interested in commenting on status feature and accordingly evan has answered, so lets hope for the best.....
Even if Ning could just have a "see more activity" link, where they could see more than just the default number of activity that was set by the creator, I feel would be better than nothing, but the "Like" and "Comment" is a must have so people can take ordinary networks to extraordinary, so members can keep up with activity instead of the activity being lost forever sometimes in seconds!
