I have had the immense pleasure in taking part in rainbow gatherings for over 25 years, while there we create a city in the wilderness feeding tens of thousands with very little resources.

Asfter huricane katrina devastated the gulf regions, american rainbow rapid response (arrr for the pirate folks) or rainbow emergency management assembly (rema for those who prefer our way to the failed fema way) mobilized and spend several years rebuilding the areas most hard hit

This video shows just what we were able to do, with no money, (to start) no organization, just the will to see it through)

now an even bigger effort is being organized by the disorganized at incredible speed, each kitchen donating supplies hundreds of volunteers already rushing into the areas to find where they are most needed.

rainbow rapid response has been joined by the occupy movement as well as several organic farms and religions groups, and the organizing group on facebook is growing extremely quickly

I wouldnt doubt we have the 1st of several relief kitchens already setting up

ive added a special donation app to dreadlockssite as well

great idea! im still recovering from Sandys wreckage!

how bad was it where you are?

and where are ya

Bless you Soaring. My parents were in the thick of it in Breezy Point, where they had the huge fire (over 100 homes). They are safe, their home... not so much but at least it is still standing.

I have been collecting donations of work gloves (its cold there & they need to change them often as they get cold/wet so they can keep working) also those small hand warmer packets and warm socks for a large group of construction workers my brother has put together who are working on clean-up in the Rockaway area of Queens NY

EVERYthing is helpful. thank you so much for doing this.

lorianne
i know rockaway is 1 area they are headed to theres like 4 or 5 towns after katrina the kitchen in the video was only 1 of 8 i think..the biggest 1
this time we may end up with dozens
