the power of powered by if ning will empower it

silly title? maybe..maybe not

its clear some people are very upset about the "mandatory" powered by ning link, still others are perfectly happy to prom=ote the ning brand they love which empowered them to create such awesome sites.. but maybe there is a compromise that can make both sides happy?

my solutions simple

but lets look at this a lil deeper..in order for ning to grow nings branding must be seen they must be found as big and popular as ning may be very few people seem to know wjhat ning is! this doesnt help ning at all if they cant grow they cant improve!

so heres my simple solution..affiliate link the powered by empower it with profit sharing a small percentage..1-3 %? 5%? whatever ning thinks it can afford as a profit share that will increase nings profits and growth. while helping reduce the cost of runing ning sites for long term users of the service.

lets say something like this everyone who clicks the powered by link and signs up using your attached affiliate id will earn you 3 bucks a month if they sign as mini 5 if plus and 7 if pro

if over a year just 10 ppl click and join that can be 30-50-70 a month! that covers your ning sites fees making it once again a free site like the good ol days..but wait..theres a chance that can become a profit too

if you average 10 sign ups a year the next year your doubling that and earning money by promoting ning..and nings growth increases drastically while alowing more engineers to work on more improvents and its win win all the way around

so ning..will you empower the power of the powered by with affiliation and profit sharing?

i think at lesast 75-80% would voluntarily turn it on if it meant they could earn from having it there..i would

then those who truly need while lable can opt out and just not have the chance to earn from having it active.

and for ning if it was like 10-20 paying sites signed up through you makes yors free or actualy earning thats ..a buig income increase for ning as each site becomes sentialy free that represents a 10 times increae in profits to ning

in fact it can be used as a selling point since some may not want to put out the high costs of a pro account but if they think in a year or 2 it could pay for itself even earn a profit they may be more willing to

well thats rather close minded isnt it?

look around at how many sites have powered by wordpress or how many shopshave powered by zencart.. are they suffering because of that? not at all

in fact some huge corporations use these pre packaged cms solutions and leave the poewered by lables ..because it doesnt hurt them at all

but what if it helped them by covering hosting costs?

this white label or nothing arguments silly

especialy when im proposing a voluntary solution that pays not a mandatory one

just pointing out that white lable isnt everything the features and the entire packah=ge is if alhe cares abiut is whitle lable.,.ih he might as wekl use facebook groups then its extrem,mly easy to create something like facebook groups that is whitle label

just create a site from scratch..but theresno way to build something with all the featyres ning offers without teams of coders and engineers so lets not pretend we created these sites alone they are built on a ning infrastructure so whats so wrong with admitting that? what do u tell your members when something goes wrong/ do you pretend to know how to fix it/ or admit u submit a ticket to someone ekse? i bet when something gores wriong then your wilingto pass the blame in to ning right/

No, You should better think logically before bashing on people, because your comparison of Ning with facebook is not logical. Facebook is a social network while Ning is a social network host.

Further more facebook is a place developed for people to socialize with their family, relatives & friends and Ning is a host where on can develop his social network or brand his business. Just because facebook managed to make it that many people use it to showcase their business, does not mean it is comparable to Ning.

Facebook is a free social network and Ning is a paid social network host, i could find more reasons why your comparison is complete illogical but the above mentioned 3 points are the core points.

So both cannot be compared like this, so you are not making a serious argument but just bashing and when you are bashing on people, it is just showing the rest of us, who you are and what kind of personality you have.

Here is a community, if you don't want people to air out their opinion then better not start a discussion and the key to a good discussion & Argumentation is being able to buttress your stand without being bash or sounding illogical

a point for you but still as initiator of this thread you should try to keep it constructive. 2 wrongs cannot make a right.

Just hope that Ning will al least listen to many here and make it at least an Affliate thing. That would be fair.

Personally am not so interested in any of their way right now. Am off the hook but if they dare force this on old NCs the should be ready for a big fight. At least they should provide a way for people who are not satisfied with the police to migrate their network.

Those who think they are too big to listen to the masses gets a hard fall. I almost thought Gaddafi was untouchable, he is not, he is just merely history now. Fighting a despot is a hard task, but it always pay out at the end.

I support you Affliate suggestion as on of the best solution to this issue

nice idea.

However, I'd rather not have it at all to be honest, and I think Ning don't need to implement something like this when they can simply force new NCs to have it.

They might be able to persuade some old NCs that don't have it on their sites to have it on an affiliate scheme.

But not me. :-)
