Current status of the Ning Platform is always available on the Ning Status Blog.

Updated 06-25-2020

All the features of Ning 2.0 with  Ning 3.0 responsiveness.. ;) This code has been updated. It'll work on any layout but it works the best with the (A) layouts ( layout A1 - A4)

Tested and working in all newer browsers IE 9, 10, 11 - Firefox - Google Chrome - Safari. for cell phones, Laptops, PCs, Macintosh and yes TVs....

The fullwidth portion of this code also works in IE 7, 8. for Laptops, PCs and TVs...

It's compatible with all operating systems...

Compatible hardware - cell phones, Laptops, PCs, Macintosh and yes TVs....

Most pages will fit on the smallest of cell phones but I recommend a screen resolution of 480 pixels and wider. But like I said most of the network will fit on screen resolutions of 250 pixels and greater.

With this code your N2 will pass Google developers, mobile friendly test, without using Nings mobile app.

If anyone would like help setting this up I'll be more than happy to give you a hand.

      • Hi George,

I believe there are 2 ways to have the Ning 2 mobile version appear in your browser.

The first way is if you append /m after your site's domain name - http://jqueryhelp.ning.com/m on my site for example.  Ning does not load the Custom Code box on the /m version, from what I can see, so there is no way to add code that might redirect a visitor automatically to the full screen version of your site.

The second way is when you visit the URL without the /m and Ning decides to automatically provide you with the mobile version.  Ning adds javascript to the HEAD section of the HTML which I believe automatically redirects to the mobile version if the code thinks you are on a smaller screen.  Since we don't have access to the Head section, I'm not sure how we could override this.

Maybe others have an idea, but at first glance, I'm not seeing a way to disable Ning mobile.

Your CSS is still very helpful to many, I am sure.  Good work!

        • Thank you for responding so quickly TJ.
I was afraid of that. LOL it would be nice if they'd give us a global on\off switch in our dashboard for the mobile app, I mean come on It's just an app.

          Thank you again TJ :-)

  • I LOVE it and implemented it. I am not getting quite the same results though. Forums, Events, Groups, Blogs, Member profiles are not stretching... Any tips??? Here's our Forum page for ex. http://thegic.org/forum

    • Hello Dr. Bernard, thank you.
The reason it's not working quite right on your network is because it was designed for this themes and layout (Theme - Kennedy) - (Layout - A1).

Give me a few hours and I will update it to your theme and layout. The only thing you'll have to replace is part 1 of the code, ( when I complete it ).   :-)  I'll be back in a couple hours or less. :-)

      • You're so awesome thanks :-)

        • Dr. Bernard :-)

You changed your theme and layout to the proper one. But still change part 1 of this code with the updated version. You have groups on your network and he did not so I updated codes to include groups. :-)

          • looks better thank you George. :)

    • Thank you for the friends request :-) and a giant THANK YOU for using the code on your network. Because of you there are quite a few more updates on that Tip "part 1"  your site will start looking better and more responsive if you use the new update. I added a code for the ad box below the header so your ads will float left for cell phones.

You have a great day and thanks again :-)

  • I Have to say this code just blew me away George and works so perfect, !00%  :-)

    • Thank you Dave, your site is working awesomely. :-) But of course I wrote the code on your network. LOL.
