Can someone please help me? I messaged George but I'm sure he's busy, I have succeeded in part of my goal, but "stretching" the column isn't working for me. I've stretched my forum, but for some reason, this same method isn't working for me.
I've used "inspect" via firefox web developer tools, to try and call to the column, which I think is span-14.
Someone can you please visit http://addictapic.com, using firefox or firebug, or whatever, and help me to get that stretched out to full canvas width? pretty sure it's
right? it's not working. :(
Thank you very much!! I'm going to have to remove that scrolling text then. sigh. thank you James, darn IE. junk.
Here is how it looks in IE8... More trouble. I'm not sure if all the blame can be laid on IE. The script writers need to account for the NO. 1 (still) browser even if it means more work. I'd be curious if the Ning platform may share some blame. How would these troublesome script work (or not) on other social platforms?
afraid so James..different browser.may give dif results..esp Ie8 and below maybe 9 and above,lol..esp if your messing arnd with your coding there may need to be some hacks done..here is a good spot to look for some hacks to help out
Thanks for the links! Solo
no problem James
OK so IE 9 (in Win 7and 8) (and IE 10 in Win 8) and chrome and FF all look the same. IE 8 has cleared up and no longer overlaps but looks a bit different... but is usable at least.
Internet Explorer 8 was released on 19 March 2009 it's almost 4 years old and the only ones using it are using windows XP which the latest version of that came out in 2005 which is almost 8 years old.. if you're complaining about Internet Explorer 8 not being compatible with today's codes that happens with every browser not just Internet explore go get an old version of Firefox and it will look much the same. update your browser Internet Explorer 10 is out. and his site looks perfect in Internet explorer 9 and up.
So yes All the blame can be put on the compatibility issues in Internet Explorer 8.. eight is very outdated we will not write codes for Internet explorer eight ever again just like we won't write codes for Firefox 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 and so on.. programmers and code writers will only write codes for the latest operating systems and browsers. hmmm Time for a new computer lol
thanks for info G..are you a code writer for them?
Don't know what this will do in all browsers IE8, 9, 10 Chrome and FF until you make the change in your code ....can only see it in FF as temp fix via Firebug.
it looks like you're getting it done your form looks great :-) you're right I have been very busy and I'm sorry I did not write the codes for you but after you get all your columns Width set I will go check your site and any modules that need the content adjusted because of the new size I will write the code for you.
You have a great evening Damien and I'll talk to you soon..
Thanks George, I figured you were busy. :)
I have decided that if I can't hide the left column on the homepage only, I don't want to do it. When I hide the column using the methods I have learned, it hides the column site wide, and like you said, it would take a lot of coding to stretch it all. Also, I can stretch the homepage if the left column is gone (for mainpage only) but that too will take a lot of stretching, as I have 8 items in my jquery tabs that will need stretching. I think for now, what I have can stay, I'll give it some trial time. It does look good! :)
