Hi,
I've read through others posts on this topic, and what has been said so far either doesn't apply or I don't understand.
My ning group is on a subdomain of my main site: http://community.travelbelles.com
My main site's url is: http://www.travelbelles.com
I get through the process on Ning's Google webmaster instructions as far down as pasting the google generated code and saving it... but then when I go back over to Google Webmaster and I click "verify" it says that the code isn't found.
As an alternate way of verifying, I tried to do it via Google Analytics. Even though the GA code is there and it is working on community.travelbelles.com, it fails to work as well.
What am I missing? Is there something else I can try?
Thanks!

We are working on updating the instructions so that they take into account the new details. Until then, I think this will solve it for you. If you can take the file name they offer and paste it into the verification field on your dashboard, I think that will do it. This is the file name you need to copy and then paste into your Ning dashboard.
This doesn't require you to upload a file to the root of your network. As I say, it's a little confusing now that the process has changed a bit. Let me know how that goes.

Thanks for the quick and friendly reply!... I tried that already, but no luck- on the G. webmaster website it says that they weren't able to verify the site using this method. I tried again for good measure and everything! thanks. Margo
Permalink Reply by Eric Suesz on April 17, 2012 at 8:56am Hmmm. I just tried it again, and it seems to work okay for me. I wonder if this has anything to do with your domain mapping?
Permalink Reply by Margo Millure on April 17, 2012 at 11:01am ah ha! For some reason the subdomain got turned off in cloudflare... I deleted it from webmaster tools and re-added it, and it was already approved once I fixed that up. Now, one more question, is there something else I need to do at Ning? as far as Sitemaps or anything? Thanks again!

Permalink Reply by Patrick Chappelle on April 17, 2012 at 11:44am I thank Ning tech Phil for putting me up on CloudFlare, but it seems to do that from time to time.
What is it you want to do with your site map, are these things that you feel are crucial to your community?

Permalink Reply by Roy Simmons on June 16, 2012 at 1:12pm I am having trouble with this too, I paste in the file name but on google webmaster tools it still says verification failed, is there another step?
