I am very uncomfortable about putting a zip code in any Ning site l sign in too. I live in a very small town and it would just be too easy for any one to locate me, just to mention my name would help people find me. It does not matter even with my Nick Name, people can locate me fast.

So l would like this to be removed from signing up to Ning sites. l can really look in the phone book and pick any zip code l want to put in there. But l really think this should be removed.

So Ning, please remove this from all sign up. It is that important.

I do not mind for the main Ning to know where l live, but it is very uncomfortable for others to know my location.

Please, removed this from sign-up.

Thank you.

Hey, Star-Dust. I think that using a fake name and a photo of someone else (which you already do) is probably going to work. Putting in a fake zip code should keep you even safer.

But l am not really using a complete fake name, l am known by both. And l have members complaining, l do tell them to use another zip code. So tell me, why is it not on here?

Hi Star Dust,

You can always remove Location as a profile question, or you can replace the default one with a single line answer that will let people just enter text rather than needing to enter their zip code if they're in the US.

How do l go about doing this?

Read all about private profile questions or just some general info about how they work.

Thanks

Star-Dust is that you!? OMG It's been so long! Remember the days when we used to goto that place and hang out? BTW, how are the kids?

Sorry this does not ring a bell.

i think he's being facetious?

He had me wondering. lol

There's no law that says you have to use your real ANYTHING on the internet! (name, address, zip code, picture).  I don't.  I have three different names I use and none of them are my real one.  Frankly, I'd be very careful posting any information like that unless I absolutely knew the site was reliable, and even then I'd be hesitant.

If zip code/location isn't an important part of being a member of your site, I'd remove "Location" as a profile question.

Thanks, l removed the location. I never give all my info out anyways.
