Hey there everyone,
just wanted to announce that our network is live, and the responses have been positive. Thanks to ning.com for creating such an easy to use way of setting this up - I'm no webdesigner nor professional webmaster, but with a little knowledge of CSS and HTML it is quite easy to set up a size and customize it. And if you add this to advanced; changing the padding from 5 to 2px the pictures will snap into rows of five.
Here comes the disclaimer: I can't guarantee that these changes will "stick" or work-you can delete them if they don't. But they do appear in Firefox when I use Firebug (an installable and essential extension for Firefox) and tweak the code.

Permalink Reply by Joachim J Layes on April 1, 2011 at 11:27pm Hello James,
Thanks for this; I tried out both but it doesn't work. The first, centering the .gif didn't show any difference. For the 2nd, i added your CSS line and it shows up centered in the preview but after clicking 'publish' after the site reloaded the slideshow is in the same position... is there anything else that might need adjustment?
Jake
Hi Jake,
First the gif: When you upload an image you have a choice where to place it. the default is 'full' on the far right, which places images to the left an "occupies" the whole width so no text will show. You can enable left or right which allow text to appear next to an image. The fourth choice, 'center', is what you want to enable in this situation, it will place your image in the center of the space. (check thumbnails) The easiest way to do this is to open the text box and delete the image and then re-upload it. Making sure you pick the 'center' choice before you click on OK
The other two I believe have fallen victim to the difficulty many NCs are having overriding the default code Ning has written. I will take another look later. If I don't get back to you right away it is because I have to go out of town for a few days to visit family and will be away from my computers. Sorry in advance for that.

I think it works. When looking at the page as a non-members (not logged in) the photos and gif-animation are centered. When I'm logged into my account, they're not - I assume this is maybe because of the 'edit' button above though I'm not sure why this would be. In any case, for anybody not being administrator or founder, both slide show and gif animation are centered now - Thank you!
Enjoy your days off!

Hey Jake ,
I'm glad they worked. I think you may be seeing a cached page in your browser (it loads a cached page so that it can load the page faster-but it is not up-to-date with the changes you have made). To clear that, do a 'hard refresh' (ctrl-f5) and see if you see the changes you've made. ....In any case I'm at the in-laws working with an excruciatingly slow sim card dial-up. Leave for Bangkok tomorrow so won't be back for 3-4 days.
"Talk" with you later,
James
