Hi James,

Don't take everything said here as exactly what you should be doing for your network.

Have you promoted it on any Christmas related websites or blogs? Or joined other holiday groups on Facebook to share in community? You'll need to explain what the value is to joining and participating your network, and need to provide value externally as well.

How engaged is your current membership? it might be best to focus on that then encourage those participating to invite people. Bigger isn't necessarily better!

Laura
Yes I have Joined a few Xmas group face book and im also a member some xmas groups
on myspace.
But how much do you participate? Are you a leader of those communities - with this, people will trust your judgment and likely follow you to your network.

What other Christmas websites do you participate in?

Have you advertised on Facebook or using a highly targeted campaign elsewhere?
I just joined the group yesterday this what i put Come Join Me at http://mychristmasspace.ning.com/ and share your love for CHRISTMAS for others help keep the CHRISTMAS spirit alive even CHRISTMAS is past
You need more than a day :)
BGJ,
I've seen a Christmas Store that "got" the idea to stay opened year round, and on the beach of all places. That was probably 20 years ago. Now, they are huge chain store. Any idea done the right way, can be successful. I mean, who in their right mind would have thought "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was a good name, most less a good idea?! Point made. ;-)

I do agree that you need to streamline, make the design less cluttered.

Bottom line: a lot of people LOVE Christmas. A lot of people love it year round. Go with what makes you happy. If you're happy at what you're doing, it will always be more successful.

And, I would definitely take some of Kate's ideas - - great stuff.

BTW, perfect example: this Discussion has absolutely NOTHING to do with the Ning Directory. But, I created it last Christmas for comradery, showcase points, and hits. Guess what? They still leave comments, almost every day!

You don't have to delete it, just understand that this network will be very seasonal with interest peaking during December each year. As Kate points out, there is a lot of content areas you could explore related to Christmas. If you keep this network, make it easier to read by reducing the graphics and flashing lights.
I wont delete i might keep it up for other xmas depending on how it does
James; I agree with the comment that the sight is just too busy. Graphics are great, but it's really easy to overdo them. Secondly, what is your sight's purpose? Just to talk about Christmas, discuss Christmas shopping and where the deals are, talk about the "reason for the season," what? I looked at the sight and didn't see any reason to join. Just a bunch of flashing lights and some music and videos.

You might want to keep this as a seasonal sight but you need to have a purpose and it needs to be right up front. Personally, I would definitely change or limit the flashing lights. Also, give the body some background so the text is easier to read.

Just some thoughts
Im Going To add more Stuff any ideas what should i add?
I changed The layout to what i started b4 what you guys think
