When member left-content left too!

Hi There,

Just me again!.... Well, this real jerk left my site- he shoulda been banned but NO I was niceynice instead! Well Yikes! This guy had his "fingerprint" on a lot of my content! and Poof! He is gone- Content is gone! I lost my entire 14 page Editorial Section!!!!He had designed the Header Tab page Graphics!

So that is my problem! I can locate some of it in I did recently-My Pages- but of course where ever he had graphics or Code- yup he was an admin-just looks like it is gone! So is all of that content really gone? Really???

WOW! what a bummer... Never ever trust cyber people- especially  moderators! If you have not looked that person in the eye---Learn from me! Oh boo hoo!!!

Yours isnt"t the first horror story I've heard like this. Not sure if Ning can restore those pages or the graphics.

I am not 100% about this, but I think if you select your previous theme from before it was removed the content will come back, because it is apart of that theme.

That is one of the problems! I just paid Sweet Potato to completely Re Design my site and was still "working out the kinks" on my end and had not backed it up! Yikes! everything was new! and shinny- it just had his sgraphics as the header tab -14 subpages!!! and when he went it took his content every page he had  code on -so in a way it was his stuff-  I just feel so stupid-- I did remove some of his code because of that very reason I just did not think of all the graphics!

That is AWFUL! When I leave - my content stays. In fact - even the customer who NEVER PAID ME got to keep everything I did. Sorry to hear you've had such a hard time with the person who did this work for you:(

I mean in reality your stories or graphics are  your own -but- it was just tied to so much content! such a bummer!!!

 I think when I actually "hire" or have a "work" type relationship with a person- I expect that content to remain! Absolutely! I actually thought this guy was a friend! I have a problem assuming folks are my friend- especially when they say so!!LOL! geeze...he just became an enemy I guess...he had been gone from the site since before Christmas- so I just thought he may not delete himself and I only removed his main work- I forgot about some of the pages he put graphics on... Since he "added the Tab" when he left- the tab was his property... bummer...

Which is one reason I went straight to a professional and I hired Sweet Potato help me! Love his work and my new design!

Perhaps I should explain that there is a group of really unscrupulous hateful people- who used to be my admin- they planned a mass exodus and stole the emails and lured a lot of my members away! Sometimes my job is just so much "fun" -not!

I know in reality you are right! I had actually been removing code and graphics and had Sweet Potato do a complete redesign I just completely for got that some of the graphics were that were used as page headers and tabs we his.... and then all the subpages went too! I think you are right I do have to do most of this myself! WOW!

I've learned many similar and hard lessons Susan with the many sites I've had.  I have come to the conclusion to pretty much run and handle things on my own.  I really don't know if it's possible to totally trust anyone even with very limited admin levels and access... unless the person actually has some money invested also in the site!  I think this would prevent a lot of this sabotage and crap from happening.

Ceecee, I have been stabbed in the back by some of these cyber people-even had website donations stolen! and one would think I would learn! This is pathetic! back stabbers! even steal members away! geeze..

Hi Suzie, I did back up your old CSS and code but none of it retains images used in pages. I'm afraid that reinstalling an old theme in the design studio would not do the trick either, that would just reinstate an old theme, not content. just to clarify, as there is some suggestion in this thread that I might have boo booed (maybe I've misinterpreted), I think if your admin created the pages and then left, that is the reason why the content has gone. Let me know if I can help.
