Ok so I'm getting a little sick and tired of members who just do what they want and disregard rules. Do you just get rid of them or explain the rules to them. I have members that are very active but their postings are becoming more work for me because they do not post correctly, i.e. no credit of author, placed in wrong groups, bad upload and so on and so .... what do do, and why do people get weird when corrected? Are these not our sites we pay for and work hard at maintaining? People are f---ing rude!!!!

You are hilarious!

Thanks.................I guess.............

Get rid of them straight away. I do. For nudity, links etc

don't have any of those problems.....we don't tolerate that sort anyway.

Enlist more Moderators :) Better to have content then none at all. Should you encounter graphical content that is deemed inappropriate, suspend immediately.

No way, moderators spell drama.........our site, i think is one of the best out there due in part to my family members being the only admin/moderators on the site. We look for quality content.....hard to tell people what they post is not up to par.............. don't want to be a snob and at the same time do not want to be controlling.

I agree DarkSky I keep my moderators to a limited few who are absolutely wonderful.

Maybe I'm wrong, but on past sites where I was just a member, admin constantly yammered about TOU (Terms of Use), which here, would be TOS (Terms of Service). What they failed to understand was that only about 1% of members were actually going to read them. So...with that in mind, I created a group that all members are pressed to join (wish I could just force that membership, but I'll submit that request later,) and the first thing they see in the text box is my very abbreviated, easy to read, almost fun to read, terms of use. I use the same group to create discussions that are actually tutorials of things many people have trouble learning when they first come to ning. Sure ... my site is really new, but ... so far, so good. For example, one of my terms is that members agree to quietly leave the site if they find they cannot follow the stated guidelines for any reason. It is working. I don't have to ask problem people to leave. I did, however, have to add a caveat: Please leave feedback before exiting!

I hear what your saying but when you got 3000+ Members coming through your site a night, it gets hard to moderate.

Darksky ... just joined your site. Looks interesting. I also noted that what I suspected is correct: You are assuming people are going to read the TOS. Just for funnzies, I'll paste "my version" of TOS that I do require all my members to read. Yes, it's corny, but they read it!

In order to create a more pleasant social networking experience, you agree ...

... to represent yourself with honesty and integrity.

... that the goal of this site is to create genuine friendships and act accordingly.

... that gossiping is unkind and unacceptable and refuse to engage in such behavior.

... that all good people have a fascinatingly wide array of emotions and opinions.

... to debate ideas, not people.

... to debate, civilly, and to walk away if that is not possible.

... to respect people’s belief systems, even if they are not your own.

... that proselytizing for any religion or belief system, including atheism, is unacceptable.

... to give credit where credit is due if you are not the author or artist of anything you post.

... to leave business networking behind, although you may post your business information on your profile page and let others come to you.

... to leave quietly if the rules don't suit you here. Although, please do PM Paula with feedback before you go.

... that if you act like a troll or a flamer, you will be quietly bounced or perhaps given a vacation.

In return for such wonderful behavior, the site administers agree to facilitate this social networking site with honesty, integrity, fairness, and transparency.

For complete Terms of Service, please see link at the bottom right of most pages.

Here's to new friendships!

Told you it was corny.

very cool, i like it........just blows me away that we are supposed to be "adults". Hard to think grown ups need so much supervision at times............glad to have you a board!

I was blown away that adults couldn't contain themselves, too. But social networking cured me of that childish fantasy ;)
