Hi, I like to add an "paid-online-learning-platform" feature to my ning.
It should be possible to design the whole course stey by step in advance and set the date when a certain lesson is available by email. The payment function must meet all the tax requirements of the EC and Austria which means when a members registers for a course he/she is forwarded to paypal / creditcard options and receives an invoice(!), and welcome mail...
The online course should provide a closed group function where after each lesson there is room for a commenting, answering the reflextion-questions of the lesson, showing fotos, videos of the results or experiences... I tried ruzuku.com, this online-tool would work perfectly with one problem - the payment is only available in $ (I need €) and there is no possiblity to integrate it easily in my ning. Who knows tools/ways to integrate these functions into my ning or could do the programming?
List of requirements so far:
How can help creating such a solution at affordable cost?

Permalink Reply by Barbara McLain on November 27, 2012 at 10:52pm I just built a similar online learning management system for University of Hawaii. I built a landing page for marketing but locked down the rest of the site to paid/registered members only. We aren't using paypal since we require university registration, but you could easily add the paypal to the landing page instead.
You might not need to hire anyone.
Inside your course...If all the students are progressing through the course during the same time frame...you can do several things such as...
Put your weekly lessons into Ning as Blog Posts from the instructor (you). Title the blog post as Week 1: Whatever you want to title the lesson. Then another blog post Week 2: Whatever...
Embed your course videos from another server using HTML code perhaps--or just use a standard free video service like youtube or vimeo. Set the blog lesson post to be posted at a certain date in the settings. This will allow you to create all of the content in advance---it will only be published when you say it should be--- and allow students to view the content and then reply in the comment field with photos, videos or other attachments.
Ning is very powerful for online education.
You can see the landing page I'm talking about at: http://uhatoll.ning.com
