This is probably stupid idea, but I figure I have nothing to lose but my pride.

I need to revamp my Ning network, but I have zero skills when it comes to creating themes (CSS), or anything to do with graphics. Basically, I want to make my Ning network, not look like one. I run a Heavy Metal site, and want it to reflect that. Not saying my theme looks bad, or doesn't convey "Metal", but it does look Ning-ish.

So what's a network creator with no CSS skills and no money to pay someone to do it for him to do? Maybe I let whoever customize place a "Powered By.." link somewhere on my home page. I've got quite a few recording artists, they've got sites where they sell their cd's and merchandise. If they're impressed with the work on my network, they'll want to hire the person who customized my network to do work for them. We can take it a step further and this person could set up a group (which I would feature, naturally), where bands can come to and submit requests, and discuss the kinds of graphics they're looking for.

Like I said, it's probably a boneheaded idea, but I had to try something.

I don't think it's a crazy idea at all. Actually, let me rephrase that- I think it's the good kind of crazy. :)

What you need, my friend, is to use what Ning gives in an overhaul type of way, choose exactly what features you need to use (I.E.: Do you need vids, groups, etc.), and you need an overall theme to the site. Yes, it's metal, but metal needs a feel to it visually speaking. Or at least YOUR metal does.

If you like, I'll help you with your graphics area. I don't like thinking that the box even exists, so I may give you some pretty wacky ideas from time to time. But as a freelance graphics guy, I love building things. 

All the graphics on my network are done by me, if you want to check out some of the things I do. So, lets talk theme.
