I really need a search function that allows users to search for a particular profile field. So if the user has entered their kik username, other users can search for all users that have a kik username. So every user that has entered their kik username will be listed.

Why don't you use advanced search ? Like this http://www.ksnonline.org/profiles/members/advancedSearch

Suppose I want to find male members only so we can find all those male members.

Set your profile question and set it as mandatory field. It works perfectly.
