Hi all,

A few minutes ago we updated the mobile alpha with these features:

  • The ability for signed in members to add blog posts.
  • The ability for signed in members using Android 4 devices to upload photos (we'll be including support for additional devices that have this capability in the next release).
  • An option in the Mobile Management section to create a My Page menu entry for signed in members to visit their own profile page.
  • Additional filtering options in the Members page type so that you can display featured members or members in a specific category.

We also removed the ability for Mini networks to create html type mobile pages, since they don't have this ability in their networks.

Please continue to provide feedback; it's helping us shape the mobile offering, and in addition to working on remaining basic functions (like deletion of comments and posts), we have some exciting features coming up.

I hope some of those upcoming and exciting features include events, that would be bombastic!

How do we get access to this beta feature?  I requested our site to be on the beta list a while back and I don't know where to try it out.

Thanks,

Steve

Head to the home page of this group page or here for the alpha instructions.

Thanks!

Very nice! Thanks for adding Discussions. Will love to see Groups sometime.

Quick bug-report:

I optimized my photo for the network logo to fit the space available for it on the Mobile Pages Design page. But the actual photo displayed on my iPhone is smaller - it's been truncated from the right by the width of the pulldown menu. It'd be great if they matched.

Thanks Jeff,

We'll check that out.

No worries. And just so's you know, FYI, if you're looking back at mine, I re-optimized it for the real display size shown on the phone's screen.

I just got an iPhone 4 tonight. And when I log into my site, I see nothing but icons.  If I click on "My Page", I see where people have left me comments, but I can't see the actual comment!  All I see is their profile pic and "Comment back".  I can't see the message.

Same thing with "Activity".  I see nothing but icons of the member's profile pics.  No text. Just a white screen.

Same thing with "Members".  Nothing but icons and white screen.

Adding a discussion takes me to the forum.  I removed the forum from my member's view a long time ago.

I see nothing like what Jeff Bean posted just above this comment.

So far, the mobile is pretty much useless on my iPhone.

Am I doing something wrong???

Hi Diane,

You'll need to activate the alpha. There are instructions for doing that on the main page of this group or here.

Seems to be working well on my network - quick and elegant.  Events, Groups, Chat and some very basic geolocation to display members in a grid like the photos (particularly nice btw) would make it a killer app.

Nice update. Would love to see a screenshot from the android 4 device when uploading a photo.

Once events are in it as well I will be really happy ...
