Hi all

There has been much discussion in the thread here about the new mobile interface and 'Ning Ads'.

Until we know fully what 'Ning Ads' means, I thought I'd open a discussion to find out what NCs want from the ad function on their mobile networks.

I've been very vocal that I want the ability to run my own banner ads, preferrably in rotation across all pages. An interface that enables me to do this is what I want, but failing that a text box that I can insert above all pages and insert html and script would suffice.

More than anything, though, I want control over what ads I put on my mobile site. I don't want to have one option only, i.e. Ning/Glam ads.

What does everybody else hope to see?

I agree and support SP's comments. If this was a free service then I would expect to deal with the dedicated ads. But if we pay for this service then we should be able to control what and who places advertising.

+1 to SweetPotato's ideas.

I have been running my own banner adds since starting the network (and several years in the previous incarnation of the website) and didn't even consider the idea that the mobile version would not allow me to do that. If there is no option besides Ning/Glam adds, it will be a huge problem for me.

I agree with sweet potato. I haven't read the original discussion so I don't know how concerned to be about this, but Ning / Glam will not have ad inventory for my specialised network. I run custom ads, and I need to be able to place our sponsors' ads on the mobile pages. A positionable text box would be ideal for me, and would seem like the most versatile solution for all...

Furthermore fix it where if you remove the pages that the desktop will work.. I have removed it and it's still going to mobile after clicking on the link.

I also agree with Sweet Potato... either add an advertisement box.. or fix it where it doesn't go to mobile. I know it is not hard to add a box where we can run our own ads. What is really going on here?

I'm with you SP. I was very hesitant to apply for "Ning Ads" with no detailed information or earnings potential with the program. Having control over my ads is top priority for me. Having an interface like the one you outlined would be perfect.

I see they don't care about this.. I have gone back and forth with the help desk. I did what they said about removing pages and it still goes to mobile. This month my check was 30% less of what it usually is. I really can't believe they did this mobile app without the ability to add ads. Amazing

Hey, Baller. We've tried to be clear: This is something we will fix with the next update.

Baller i understand cuz i am losing money too! I submitted a ticket and all they said is "its a bug and we will fix it" but still they haven't fix it smh

Mat, So what do you want from any potential ads function on mobile?
SP

Well i will be honest with you now, i don't want any Ning or glam ads on my site, It should be our choice since we are the one who is paying every month. I don't want them to tell us what kind of ads to put. We should be able to put whatever we want on our site. a banner ads or google ads. Its our site.

Exactly. I'm happy for Ning Ads to be an option but the fact that Ning think this is a priority over the ads that many, many NCs run on their own is very frustrating and ill thought out.
